bugs... darn bugs.. Organic Grower needs help
(not thinking I need a form for a bug question, correct me if I am wrong)
I have Blue Dream started flowering dec.1st. Also grow herbs and stuff, I cloned some mint and it had bugs but I didn't know it. I know I know a classic NUBE mistake, don't put any other plants around the girls. Mistake made lesson learned but so now I have aphids. I have taken 5 or 6 of the worst leaves off, I am in close contact with this plant all the time so I immediately see & deal with any bugs I see.
I have sprayed with the diluted soap water solution, however I wont be able to keep doing that once the buds start forming..
So 3 questions.
1: If they really get bad how many leaves is ok to remove? If they are in flowering then is it more or less important for them to have abundant leaves?
2: How far into flowering can I use the soap water cuz I really don't want to deal with mold and such either.
3: Do I need to completely change out the soil? eggs are on the leaves and soil from what I understand, I am getting the leaves but what about the soil?loveplants420 Reviewed by loveplants420 on . bugs... darn bugs.. bugs... darn bugs.. Organic Grower needs help
I talked to a head chemist of a chemical company, and he said neem oil is really good for getting rid of bugs. The only thing with neem oil is that it doesn't last that long and you need to respray once the eggs have hatched. He also said that with most neem oils you need to add an adjuvant to break the surface tension of water. This is why people add soap when they spray. Regular dish soap is bad for the plants, but he told me that baby shampoo won't be harmful. I used this method yesturday night because he told me it is bad to spray during the day. I see very positive results today, and there are no more black dots underneath the leaves. To recap, the mixture I used was 1 tsp of baby shampoo, 2 tsp of neem oil, and a spray bottle (quart) of water. Hope this helps,
Peace,
