DWC Help.. On Life Support
Whats up guys,
First, im new to this board so hello everyone. nice to meet you all......
Second, YES im a newbie and I know you all ar sick of answering help questions but I really need help fellaz.
Ok, this is my first grow. Im using a DWC system with 2 airstones in a lowrider tub, holds maybe 6 gallons.
Im growing (or trying to) White widow. the germination went fine. Im using Rockwool. Soaked it like I should overnight. Placed plants in rockwool under a florescent and they came up like they should, they were all nice and stout. since they looked good I went ahead and tried to get another set growing ( 15 plants in all) I placed those seeds in rockwool about 3 days after my first set. they all grew kinda long and skinny but looked good.
I wasnt too sure about when to put them into the system. most videos Ive seen said they should go in when the root comes out the bottom of the rockwool. so I placed my first batch of plants into the DWC system (8 plants in all) but left the last 7 out and wanted to see the way they would react being I was placing one set into the system before the other.
I filled the system to just over the bottom of the net cups but wasnt sure if I shouldve raised or lowered the level.
so I placed them under an 400 watt MH lamp about 4 feet above the plants and put the nuts into the system. I checked the Ph and it was 6.3 so I let everything go ... well they have been in the system for about 2 weeks and havent grown any more at all and now all but 5 droop over and some are turning yellow and some yellow with brown spots. both the set in the system and the set I left out .
I changed the water today and lowered the PH to 6.2 and redid the nutes thinking I maybe put the wrong combination in there. Im using florogro and floromicro I had 4 gallons of water in the system and if I read the dosage correct it was one teaspoon of micro for every gallon and 3 teaspoons of gro for every gallon. I used slightly less this time thinking maybe I over did it on the nutes the first time.
they looks so sad and everyother video Ive seen showed most plants at 2 weeks looking real nice while mine droop and are so skinny and still only have the 4 leaves it first started off with. They are not gowing.
Fellaz, I know Im doing something wrong and Im sorry to have to bother you all with a help thread, but hey, you gotta learn somewhere. I know ill get better at it but I really want to get a lil something off this current crop I have. Will you guys PLEASE help me... Thanks

First being your pH...It's too high for hydro, you want (not sure EXACTLY) 5.3-5.8
Second is your MH seems to be TOO high which is why they are lanky. They are stretching for the light. Best way to know how high you need it, is to simply put your hand underneath it, palm down, at your plants tops and lower them till it gets warm on your hand. If it's hot then you went to low. Raise it till it isn't hot to the hand anymore, then that will be the height to keep the MH.
Oh, and now that I'm rereading it, your using nutes already, which I'm sure you don't want to do until at least 2 weeks after the seedling stage.
Also, if you can, fill out the troubleshooting form in the plant problems forum, that will help answer your problems quicker.

Welcome to the forums...
Couple things. First you want to lower the water level. You want the airstones to create bubbles that burst at the surface and splash tiny amounts of water up towards the net pot. If you submerge all the roots under water they will drown.
Second you want to keep the PH at 5.8. Also if they are still as young as you say then they dont really need nutes yet from my experience. If anything you can use Superthrive or 1/4 strength nutes.
Superthrive worked great for my DWC seedlings... Made their roots explode. Check out my DWC grow log here http://boards.cannabis.com/hydroponi...-grow-log.html
or some others for tips..

water level to high.
PH to high.
Nutes WAY to high.
water level should be about 1" below netcup/basket.
PH should not go above 6.0 but no lower than 5.3ish
Nutes ...... if your using the same as me (floramicro and floragro, you listed as Floro), then your way to high for lil ones like that. ST is a great add but nutes no more than half strength until you have like 3 to 4 sets of true leaves. No nutes until atleast the 1st set or true leaves. Watch the temp inside grow area, have good air circulation and drop that light about 2 foot.
post some pics if you can that way we know where these plants are in life

I don't think you mentioned nute temp either, to cold stunts growth, i know this! since a tank heater was fitted they've started growing like crazy, good luck bro about 18 degress C or 77 farinhight worked for me

:thumbsup:Thanks a bunch for all your info fellaz, Here are some pics of my sad trees. Ive lowered the light to about 2 feet above as you all sugested, look at the picture and tell me if its too high still. Also the temperature reading is there. the humidty is a bit down but its usually not that way all the time. Im growing in the attic and there are no open air vents in there so i just open the stairs to let air in. do you guys think that will work or should I run a vent upstairs? The attic is big enough for me to grow and stay out of the way of the kids and old lady. so I cant change the location.
Sorry I couldnt get more detailed pics of the leaves, I have a crappy camera... But as you can see, they are long, skinny and hunched over... Is it too late to fix them.. I have also cut the nutes down and lowered the PH to 5.8... I hope I can save my babies.. I need my smoke AHHHHHHHHHH..........

Ack!! they are seedlings still. To soon for DWC setup. keep them under the floro light until you got a good 2 or 3 sets of leaves and keep the light close. put a small fan to create a LIGHT breeze to help strengthen stems. Plain Ph'd water for now. if it was me I would leave light on 24/0 for now also. 1 drop Superthrive per gallon of water that they get watered with wont hurt a bit if you have any.
keep us posted and Good Luck!!
