can anyone tell me why the price on weed has nearly doubled in the uk in the past 12 months. since there is lots more around and grown in almost every street i know, or are the dealers just getting greedy and not stoned.
when i smoke about 5grams a day thats costing me nearly as much as a bad coke habbit.

just spoke to my mate who is a bigtime dealer, he says the price has risen because the impoted weed from holland costs more now because of the price of the euro against the pound increese, a kilo now is £3500 for regular import and upto £5000 for cheese, lemon etc.

5 grams a DAY! What is it you're smoking? I think the reason for the increase in price lately is to do with the media. I dunno about where you are but lately i've been getting bombarded with cannabis and how 'bad' it is. From cannabis farms in bristol being busted on the news to 'FRANK' adverts to documentaries like 'cannabis:britains secret farms' that had one guy on there with a weed 'addiction' moaning about how it ruined his life and telling us how desperate it made him and how he stole family possessions to fund his 'addiction' to weed .. please! Correct me if my views are wrong and its normal for people to behave like they are on crack if the smoke weed regularly!
Another program, 'Tower block of commons', had this one kid who they made out to be some sort of genius being held back and misguided because of his 'addiction'. I don't doubt that smoking too much weed has demotivated some people at some point but it just seemed so staged. It's like the government is really pushing how 'bad' weed is and reaching out to all the people with little knowledge of cannabis and it's effects because they will believe what they see in the media as they have inadequate experience themselves and it's easy to make someone believe drugs are bad because most are. However I dont really look at cannabis as a drug, the only reason its illegal is because england copied america!
I think this clamp-down is gonna get worse and i think the reason is because the government is greedy and doesn't like how much money suppliers are making in the cannabis industry as they aren't getting any of it! I agree in a way, because it's easy money people abuse it and get greedy and start spraying it with fricking glass to add weight and get more for their money. It's people like that who give cannabis a bad name!
This war against weed is why there's all this bullshit about cannabis being so much stronger these days and how it will make you psychotic. But skunk has been around for years and if it wasnt for the media highlighting skunk as something new and dangerous then kids wouldn't think it was cool and dealers wouldn't take advantage of this new powerful craze and put the prices up.

It just sucks for people who simply want a nice smoke! You either gotta be lucky and have a good clued up dealer with the right connections .. or grow your own.

welcome to the boards pixienickers the price increase is mainly to do with the price of the pound against the euro, like i said i have a friend who is a very big time dealer, not only do they import but they allso run some big farms in the uk, these major dealers set the price.
as for the government bullshit and that wanker frank i totally agree with you that highlighting skunk as something new and dangerous only encourages kids to try it.:stoned:

well im from the USA but i feel your pain.

Even over here dealers are making and breaking the rules as they go along.

here standard goes:
$15-$20 per gram
$40-$50 an 8th
$85-$95 a quarter.
$145-$155 a half
$275-$325 an ounce.

personally i think the prices are nutz considering half the time you dont even get the amount you payed for...

other times you have these people out there selling $400 ounces...fucking nutz.




so my advice is this...(at least to those where legal MJ is legal)...

get inline with the laws (mj cards, doc recs, etc)
learn how to grow.
grow your product.

and with the extra put the others out of business...low ball that shit and steal their clients. simple as that. with my extras i dont plan on being greedy...i plan on puttin these punk bitches out of business as quick as they got in with their shitty bammer and BS prices.

i would love 50 an 8th, live in the south, if your paying to much for bud, the problem is very simple, either you arent buying from the right link in the chain, or you arent buying enough to get a deal.

Either way, i always try to have 2 or 3 peeps to get from that way i can always find a decent price, also try finding some friends who need bud and get thiers at regular price (ifyou have buddies that each want a quarter, throw your money together and catch the price break that comes with getting a half o and then get your own eighth or whatever for like 35 dollars, tell them regular prices

I'm from the states as well (midwest). Our bud prices jumped up over the last year from 60-80 usd an ounce to 120 an ounce. But in the past couple of months the prices have been trending back down to around 80-110 an ounce. I smoke 2 grams (roughly) a day and buy an ounce every 2 weeks for strictly personal use. This is the best price point for me. If you buy your bud by anything less than the half ounce here then you get royally screwed over. Buy in bulk (when you can't grow your own)!

Also, as everyone else mentioned, find the right connection. If you don't already know someone, do a little networking. Hang out at your local smokeshop and strike up a conversation with anyone you see buying a digital scale. Use caution doing it that way cause the person is obviously a stranger and you don't know what they're capable of, but that should go without saying. I've found some of my best connections that way and I've been smoking everyday for the last 5 years.
