Need Help. 2 30 gallun tub dwc system questions
Hi everyone. I am very new to growing and I am going to attempt a hydroponic DWC system. I will have 2 30 gallon tubs with 6 plants in each tub. I will be running a 600w hps. I basically have everything correct but the only thing I am stumped on is how do I empty and refill the res. I really do not have a budget because i know yields will pay for all of my up front costs. I just dont really know what to do when it comes to change the water. I am in a walk in closet with the dimensions 8'x4' with 8 ft ceilings.

Need Help. 2 30 gallun tub dwc system questions
Best and easiest way is to buy another tub exactly the same. Fill it up and nute/ph it then just pick the top up off the other tub and place them in the new tub. Then go clean out that tub and do the same for the other.
Other methods include pumps and extra line which probably wouldnt be best for your budget situation. Before I had extra tubs I built a stand out of wood and put a small tarp underneath to catch water... then rested the top on that while I ran and changed the res lol..

to the rez's, and set them up on stands high enough to drain.don't need a valve just raise the end of the hose higher than the water level.
having an extra tub to switch around once in a while lets you clean when needed

For a long time we did not want holes that would leak so we went to a boat shop a got a small hand bilge pump for 20 something. We put a hole in the top between plants just big enough to slide the pump in and a 5 gallon bucket to catch the water. The hardest part is moving water.
Now we have a small pump from slowes that you can hook up water hoses to. Throw a short hose in the rez with a filter on the end so you don't pick up any looose hydrotron. Did that and burned up a pump. the other end is a 100 foot hose that waters the flowers and they do look very happy.

Drill Pump from Lowes or Home Depot runs about 5-8 dollars. Hooks up to any drill with a couple of spair hose ends attached to it. I have been using these for over a year in 2 diff rezes and works really well. Also for filling made easier you can pickup a transmission funnel from any auto parts store or even Walmart and makes filling without bending over.
