    1. Faders set at 0 or unity means what in regards to any signal passing through them?

    2.Record,play & stop are examples of___________controls.

3.What is the defining characteristic of a split console and is the GL4000 one?

4.If I am listening to the 24 track on the GL4000 the inputs selected are the ________inputs.

    thanks

i always thought of record play and stop to be transport controls. The interface transport contains these controls in protools.

Hmm.. I have used an A&H GL4000, but not extensively. These are my guesses, but you may want to double check elsewhere:
    1) The signals are neither attenuated nor boosted when faders are at unity gain.
    2) Record, play, and stop are examples of transport controls. (Might not be the only answer, but it does fit).
    3) A split console uses seperate modules for inputs and outputs (as opposed to an In-Line console). I think the GL4000 is a split console, because I know each track has a direct output. Not 100% certain, but I seem to recall this.
    4) I have no idea what this question is asking.

Hope that sort of helps a little. Good luck anyway!

Channel 24(next to the master section) is a____________channel.
    channel 25 is a _______________channel.

o ya! i forgot to ask....

5.PFL is different from AFL in what way? Where is signal derived and where is it routed?

PFL and AFL are solo functions (pre-fade and after-fade). With PFL, you hear the original signal regardless of how the fader is set. The AFL function depends on fader setting. So AFL is routed to the fader buss, whereas PFL is routed directly to the output, bypassing the faders (my terminology may be different from the class').

I don't know about that 24/25 channel question. The mixer I used only had 24 channels.
