    CFL Light at Home Depot

Yes, I always heard the blue light was much better for veg., and red for bud. Red will stretch the plants in the veg stage, something you don't want, but good for making the flowers grow well. I never had any grow make it to the flower stage. I'd get paranoid about the neighbors when the plants got really fragrant. It was ok as I had an exhaust fan going, pulling it outside, but then the neighbors decided to start doing some exterior house repair right outside my window, so I pulled them. Now that Michigan has emerged from the dark ages and a person can get licensed to grow for certified patients, that's good news for the sick people who really need it and don't have to be at the mercy of the pharmaceutical companies for the outrageous prices they get for their medicines.

I'm using 2 of those exact same lights in my setup now. They were $15 and are definitely bright as hell.

Sorry for the old thread bump, but I wanted to share my thoughts.

I saw this the other day. My thought was this: For $15 you can get 3 2-Packs of 26w CFLs. Thats 156w of light for the same price as one of those bulbs. Almost double. Now not only can you distribute the smaller bulbs more evenly around the plant, but what happens if your $15 bulb bruns out? Well you need to run off and buy a new one ASAP, and your out $15. If you lose a single 26w CFL, your out $2.50, and your plant(s) are not likely to suffer from one missing bulb for a day or so.

Granted, your going to spend about $10 bucks in extra light splitters to run the 6 26 watt bulbs, but in the long run I think its a better option.

I did not get a chance to compare relative lumens. Was in a bit of a rush and thats all the math I felt like doing for one day :stoned:

As far as department store bulbs go, I'd call the the MOAB. Mother Of All Bulbs.

If you want the serious stuff, 1000 bulbs dot com will give you your fix. :smokin:

I have a 4 bulb vanity fixture ($15 at HD/Lowes) using 2 x 300s (2@ $15) + 2 X 43s. The plants outgrew the height (3 ft) I have above the aeropods), so I moved the fixture high up on one side- horizontally, until 2 days ago.

After reading about the importance of light penetration into the leaf, and that underside lighting was benefical to get full penetration (I assume to allow the leaf do 20% more work), I turned the fixture vertically.

I think I am getting a better light spred this way, while at the same time lighting things up underneath. If anyone is interested, PM me, I have a journal on another site.
