hydro stunted, webs on roots when i pulled some to look at..

so i posted somethin a few days ago becuase im having a hard time with this hydro (first time hydro long time soil). i have a ebb and flow system, when things start to root i put them into individual 5 gallon drippers, my flood system turns on and runs for a hour and turns off for a hour, my drippers run 24/7.theyre growth started to become very stunted and the stems got dark purple on alot of them, i moved some of the hydroton to the side and noticed my roots are very brown and some parts have like a spider web on them, im pretty sure theyre done and will die but id like to know why this happened? i think its overwatering but im not sure looking for some expert hydro advice.

p.s. i use the advanced nutrient system and noticed its really easy to burn plants so i cut down on it alot

sounds like root-rot ... try a good flush with hydrogen peroxide and clear water ... try a half-pint H2O2 per gallon, let it cycle overnite, if doesn't look better, kick it up to a pint, per gallon, and repeat ... I never used the ebb & flow style, but that sounds like a lot of pumping time ... don't let the roots dry out, but I don't 'think' they need to be kept that wet ... just my guess ... good luck :smokin:

ok see ive been messing with it and alot of people told me hour on hour off and they all look ok, can the root rot be becuase they were in rockwool at first but i noticed mold growing on the rockwool and peeled it off, hydrogin peroxide (the stuff you put on cuts right) that wont kill the plants? and should it be dripping 24/7?


sorry for all the Qs but its frustrated me i grow excellent in soil just trying something new that i got the money

yup, plain old, store-bought Hydrogen Peroxide 3% ... it will not hurt your plant (and, you said your plant is a 'goner') :wtf: ... one of the reasons hydroponics produce fast growth, isn't just because of the available nutrients, but also because of oxygen to the root system ... being constantly wet, cuts off the oxygen, and molds, fungi, etc., are free to develop ... H2O2 is an oxidizer, not only kills off the bacteria (both beneficial and harmful bacterias), but gives an oxygen boost to your roots ... after the bad things are killed, they should be replaced with beneficial bacteria, I like Fox Farm Big Bloom, but there are other fine ones, too ... I don't like rockwool, pH issues, and holds too much water, IMHO ... I can't help ya with ebb&flow, but that just sounds too wet, from my inexperienced mind, just a thought ... good luck ... :smokin:

awsome ok, ill do that tonight, when you say clear water, is RO water ok? its what ive been using even though i notice the ph likes to change alot, and in ther veg right now, maybe 2-3 weeks ( like i said side project ) thats why i worry i caught it too late ( i never wanna see one of my babie girls die). lol i use the tiger bloom for my soil somtimes but i went with the whole effin advanced nutrients line, cost a pretty fucken penny. using the sensi grow A&B for veg and the consiurse* A&B for bud with every other thing advance nutrients have, maybe im jumping into the deep water to quick ehh?

never use RO water, or distilled water ... I found that out, AFTER I spent a couple hundred bucks on my RO setup :wtf: ... RO and distilled water, remove all the minerals your plant needs ... especially magnesium, calcium, and iron, among others ... you can get by with adding Cal-Mag+, to your water, but if your tapwater, well, etc., isnt too bad, why spend money on Cal-Mag+ ? ... pH your water, and see ... I have no experience with E&F, but my drip systems were usually set for 15 minutes per daylight hour, and 15 minutes every two hours of darkness ... :smokin:

i didn't start out with the whole advanced nutes line - prob not necessary at first. Keeping it simple is always the best advice....

always good advice - just listen to the plants, write down what they do and then do what they like...the plants know what they want...

i took your advice with the switching all the water out of everything and replaced it with tap water and hydrogen peroxide, i had to make about 8 gallons of water but i didnt have a whole lot of hydrogen peroxide so it has about a 10 fl oz in the whole 8 gallons, my bigger plants took it fine and theyre roots are already looking better my smaller ones may not make it though, musta been to late on the treatment, theyre sagging bad right now but i still got faith for them. if you have any other tips or anything about the flowering process id love to hear it you guys, if things go as well as they are itll be 14 days when i throw em in.
