Need help, Mildew?
I trimmed all the affected leaves and I sprayed with the milk and water, mixed 1 part milk to 9 parts water. I read somewhere in this section that it works for certain types of mildew and that grape farmers are even trying this as opposed to sulfur spray.
I understand that this may only slow it down and I will have to spray every week which is ok if it will save the crop.
So I'll keep an eye on them for the next few days and see if any mildew returns. As soon as I move these plants to another room I'll do a complete sanitation with bleach etc.
Just FYI, I looked on the farm bureau site and the problems I have (by comparing pictures) look just like what happens to cucumber farmers, its called Downy Mildew and they use some pretty exotic fungicides to combat it. Very common though!
I'm hoping a simple remedy will work to get to harvest this one time then its total sanitation and prevention the next time!!
