190 for a hood? Seems above average though, Hydrofarm always makes top quality stuff.

It's not just a hood, it has a built in switchable ballast. Not a style of light I am keen on, don't like the idea of having to hang the ballast above the plants as well as the light and the air cooling options require you to pull room air over the bulb.

Good point on the ballast being above the plant. So do you think two different lights is the way to go? Possibly a 150watt sun system and then im not sure what other light i would get.

You need to make sure that the housing is securely attached, using fittings designed to carry the amount of weight. I have a similar light fixture that I use for vegetative growth (larger though and heavier, 400W) that is supported by a timber gantry. The light is firmly fixed and doesn't move up and down, I move the plants instead.

No, personally I use a Philips Son-T-Agro (400W, hps + extra blue) for veg and flowering, but I don't know anything about your set up so it is impossible for me to suggest anything to you.

Im growing in a tool shed, 7' tall and 3' wide. I am growing one plant for now starting as a clone with a hydroponic drip system(i may very well after this grow start two plants). What i've got so far is a 5 gallon drip system, my hydroponic clay pebbles, a general hydroponic pH control kit, a 6 watt eco plus air pump, digital thermometer with humidity reader, Botanicare Cal-mag Plus 2-0-0 and Botanicare Pure Blend Pro grow 3-2-4. I still need to get my timer, the mylar to put on the walls in the tool shed im growing in, an air stone, my lights and my rockwool.

Thats a general on my grow set up and what i've got going, if you have more questions let me know.

From the site I got that only the 400w light/reflector/ballast is switchable.

If that's 3'x3'x7' tall, I'd be going for the 400W for full coverage and to make the most of the height... you'll need good air extraction.

Ok, air extraction is a pain in the ass, unless i commit to a nice fan and am willing to invest more money I feel i won't be properly extracting air in order to get proper ventilation. Any suggestions? And btw thanks for the posts, i greatly appreciate the help.

If you aren't prepared to commit to decent extraction it really isn't worth spending money on HPS. It really is essential.

One question - what sort of construction is the shed?
