So earlier today I was trying to get some school work done and I noticed I had a bit of adware on my computer. After going to Add or Remove Programs to get rid of it, I noticed I had a lot of programs on my computer that I will never use again, so I started methodically removing all the programs that looked worthless.

In the process of this, I deleted something called SoundMAX, which I figured must have been some sort of media player or something. Much to my surprise, after that my speakers no longer work. Apparently I deleted the driver to my sound card.

So I went to Dell's "Help" and "Support" Center and after their crappy search tool literally brought me to tears with frustration, I found this page which seems to pertain to my specific problem:

Looks like everything will be fine if I just reinstall the driver. Great. Only thing is, I need one of the CD's that came with my computer all those years ago, which I didn't bring with me to college so they're 300 miles away.

If somebody who has the CD could do me a favor and extract the driver files then send them to me at [email protected] I would greatly appreciate it. In the meantime, I will have a musicless session to recover from my frustration.
