Hard to tell from the picture but it does look like a male. Give it a couple more days to be sure.

Thanks, will do. Quick question, at what point in time (generally) do male plants start screwing things up?

From the moment the first male flower opens and sheds pollen. Can be anywhere from a week after they appear to a couple weeks.

Best to isolate or eliminate when you first notice. 7 days is a pretty small window, and you can't be sure that you saw them at first emergence. If it is suspect, better be safe than sorry.

The long hair like structure is called a stipule, I think. It is commonly mistaken for a flower by first time growers. And yes it does look like a male.

If your weather and stealth can accomodate it, you might want to try to harvest some pollen from that male. It's one way to stay self sufficient, pollinate one lower budsite and get your next run of seeds from this crop.

I think many times how nice it would be to have some pollen on standby.

    Just my :twocents:

Also when you're not sure if its a male, keep it misted with water and the water will keep the polen from spreading if a pod happens to open before you catch it.
