    Top plants now??

    Guys:

Back for more advice. Going into flower stage in a couple of days. My tallest plants are 20 to 22 inch. Question for the experts, should I top them or just let them go as is into flower??

My grow tent has 6.5 feet of height. Thanks again for any insight of what you would do. See pics of two tallest plants.

If you do top it, it is recommended to let it recover for 1-2 weeks before flowering:stoned:

Topping needs at least a week or two of veg before you flower to give the new shoots some time to grow some foliage.

My first grow I topped a plant the day before i trhew it into flower and the shoots didnt have enpugh to to grow more before flower appeared, so the tops were not very big.

Next time i topped and gave them a coupleweeks before flowering them. The colas were MUCH BIgger and yield was also better. You have to let the plant grow more nodes before it flowers so it will have more budsites or else buds are small and yield isnt so good.

One more thing, Not topping produces very tall plants with one large cola. topping creates shorter bushier plants with more medium size colas. So if room is a problem i would suggest topping.

You should look up a topping technique called FIM. Its when instead of clipping the entire growing tip off, you leave the bottom ten percent there. It looks kinda retarted but If you do it right 4 tips start growing (instead of just 2)

Do you know what strain you are growing? That would make a difference as well, some do well topped, some yield less topped. In my experience, indicas love to be bushed out while sativas would rather be left alone. Just one man's perspective.

Thanks for feedback and question. I have two strains of indica and two strains sativas. The pics I took are my sativas. Based on feedback and me being a first time grow guy I am just going to let them grow and not top them.

Worried I will screw up trying to top them, have enough height in my grow tent so I will just let them go.

Thanks again guys for the feedback.

thats what i would do and next time around top the plants at 4 to 5th node i dont go by height i personally go by the nodes cause plants stretch more than others also, you can top several grow shoots not just the top

he brings up a very good point, I have a indica that wont branch out for the world. If you top it its a waste because for some reasons the lower branches dont like grow that much. It does best as a one cola plant.

To tell you the truth the only real problem i have with not topping is they get so damn tall, other than the you get a really nice impressive top cola and if you veg the long enough you stil get nice nugs off the lower branches.

I thought i was topping mine but after reading about fiming, i realized thats what i did. But if you can see it gave me 7 top's:thumbsup:. A mistake that worked out for me. 3' long flower cantainer, with the plant getting to about
3' 6'' high. Just thought this would be a good example of what fim can do.
