Seed Question

I have a question, I feel stupid for asking, but i havent grown from seed for a while now.

I have a couple seeds germin and im about to pop them in some rockwool cubes.
My question is this... does the root go up or down in the cube???
I looked in the FAQ's and couldnt find anything....
