cant find it anywhere
Hey guys im in the midst of making my Hydro setup for the first time. I started to germinate the seeds but i have yet to find the rockwool before the first one popped. Is there another alternitve to rockwool that i can find at a home depot walmart or lowes? Ill have about 2-3 plants and using the method where the roots are completely submerged with a water pump and airstone in the water supply itself. ANy help would be appreciated.

Yes peat pellets or rapid rooters. You can find them most anywhere.

do i have to prepare it in any way? Also being this is my first hydro setup, do i put a hole at the bottom of the foam or do i just leave it as is and the roots will be strong enough to push through? They don't sell fert and nutes in regular stores around town usually right? looking for the 8oz sample bottles of bontanicare i think. not looking to spend close to a hundred for 1-2 plants

You can get the pro grow and pro bloom for about 30bucks total if u get the quart size containers. The pro grow will last u a while, since veg time is less and ur using less nutes then bloom. The pro bloom is enough to get u through atleast one grow maybe 2. Great stuff, if u can pick up the liquidkarma too.

depends were u are around here its only 18 bucks a quart. a general tip for any nutrients buy twice as much flowering than veg, trust me u will need it.if money is a problem there is also gh brand nutrients but botanicare is about the same price.there is also advanced nutrients sensi formula wich is a+b and c+d formuala it a 2+2 part forumala. but keep it simple and cheap. i would reccomend the flora nova series over botanicare "i just used it for the last time and was verry unimpressed" but thats what i started with and kept using it until i discoverd much more better nutrients do give u a much better crop.

Let me get this correct you are germinating seeds and have some that have popped and you do not posses the 1" rock wool cubes to start them in? I also thought I read you were growing NFT (roots in the dark with no growing medium other than the 1" Rock wool that will later be pressed or fitted into an ebb and flow nutrient solution with a pump and airstone?
if this is correct you can use small stones but be sure they are sterile, also insulation (pink or yellow Owens corning or similar wall or bat insulation) one could ostensibly use perlite / vermiculite mix then after obtaining the Grodan rock wool and presoaking it to obtain proper Ph and proper nutrient solution vegetative growth in the cube transplant the vegetation being careful not to damage the roots.
Whatever "system" you decide on be sure to follow instructions as growing indoors is not like your mama's Swedish ivy or poinsettia, I have known many whom spent thousands and could not grow mold let alone beautiful orchids sunflowers or tomatoes. Ask lots of questions and remember there are no stupid questions only ignorant people who do not want others to succeed
