A lot of people are acting like robots these days. You see it in management; where you used to interact face to face with different levels of supervision, now some isolated creep in a little ivory tower office sits on his ass all day, plays with the keys, and thinks he's a captain of industry. It used to be about leadership, now it's about numbers. No sense, no sensitivity. As little contact with people as possible, the more programable machines the better. Skill and craftsmanship are a dying concept. Screw artificial intelligence, how about artificial common sense? Human Resource Directors are among the most inhuman individuals I can think of.

It's like any other tool; lose your grip and it ends up controlling you. The more lazy people are and the more willing to give up their individuality for a little comfort they (we) become, the more likely that Terminator scenario is to becoming reality. I remember when calculators were rare; you did a lot of math in your head or on a scrap of paper. Now that we push buttons all the time, there's a whole generation coming up that can't even divide 12 by 5 without a gadget to tell them the answer. That's a lot of power to give up to the machines. When/if sentient artificial life becomes a reality, if it isn't already, we'll go down like pigs in a slaughterhouse if they decide we're in the way. No doubt it'll be a logical move for them, since they were programed by some Human Resources Specialist without a soul.

    diatribe ends.

"Open pod bay door B, Hal."
    "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that".
