    Adjust-a-wing reflector + 600 HPS in a grow tent ?

    I have 2 questions:

    1) I am very interested in buying a Medium Adjust-A-Wings and Super-Spreader for a 600W HPS light system. I want to install one such system in a grow tent (enclosed space) that measures approx. 6.5ft x 6.5ft x 6.5ft or 1.95M x 1.95M X 1.95M. I do understand that one 600 HPS light is sufficient. My question is in regard to heat generated with a 600 light bulb used in conjunction with the medium Adjust-A-Wings and Super-Spreader in a grow tent (enclosed space). Normally, in such an enclosed space, heat dissipation is better achieved with the use of an air cooled reflector . Since the Adjust-A-Wings and Super-Spreader are not air cooled, are they suitable for use in a grow tent? I was thinking about renewing the air inside the tent through the use of a 400 cfm inline fan.
Renewed air will enter the grow tent at room temperature (70-75), no AC available.
Can I use an Adjust-A-Wings and Super-Spreader with a 600 HPS light bulb without running into overheating issues?

    2) How close can a Adjust-A-Wings (wide setting) and Super-Spreader with a 600 HPS light bulb be placed from the top of the plants?

400 CFM is a 6in inline fan if i'am correct(dont buy a cheap one), but first it depends on where your growing at like which location upstairs, downstairs, basement, shed and etc
also its winter so u got a winner on your side helping you out, what i think is with the 6in fan it would not be a problem with heat cause i measure the size 6.5L 6.5W 6.5H is pretty good size(also wanna ventilated very good) but 6.5H would be a problem you only have a limit of space to adjust your light height
    18in 400w
    24in 600w
    30in 1000w

    Adjust-a-wing reflector + 600 HPS in a grow tent ?

I'll grow in a downstairs room that has a pretty constant temperature throughout the year. Year around, it never gets really cold outside where I am located.
You are right, I am concerned with the height of the tent.
Apparently, with the medium Adjust-A-Wings (wide setting), Super-Spreader and 600W, you can go lower then the 24 inch recommended light height for a regular reflector with a 600W bulb, but this is what I am trying to find out...??

Can the light height be reduced with the medium Adjust-A-Wings (wide setting), Super-Spreader and 600W bulb ?

keep in mind up until not to long ago evey one growing with mh/hps lamps didnt have air cooled hoods.if i was you,i would buy the tent, buy the biggest fan possible and do a passive intake system, just keep that air venting out of the house and u will never have to worry about anything but room temp air entering your growing chamber.

also keep in mind your room temp of 70/75 is going to increase because of the heat from your light also
If you have something productive to say by all means speak up, if not then please close the hole under your nose.

I have a friend who loves the adjust-a-wing reflectors. He adapted the reflector to fit on a cool-tube, so he could use them in a tent.

I think you *need* an AC reflector, particularly, with intake temps hovering in the mid 70s. You are going to have to move a *lot* of air to keep the environment below 80. I'd be more comfortable if ambient room temps topped out at 70.

    Hmmm,...That's a good sized tent.
    C'mon,... 1000 watt Cool-Tube,.....and don't look back.

Just my thoughts, good luck!

well the one thing that i noticed about heat issues with lighting is that if u use a air cooled hood with out ventilation the room heats up much faster, because u have all that metal and glass retaining heat, but with the bat wing style, there is much less metal to trap the heat in,so doing a passive system with the biggest fan should be good.and its best to vent completly out side instead of into the next room because of the potential for doors being left open and that old grow box heat venting right back into the box.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I know now a little more about ventilation and heat build-up, dissipation, etc.

Could anyone answer the second question ?

    2) How close from the top of the plants can you lower an Adjust-A-Wings (wide setting) + Super-Spreader + 600 HPS light bulb ?

you could use the palm method by placing your palm under the light and feel the heat in the center of your palm start from low to high, you could feel the heat if it gets too hot on the center of the palm burning and that's when you know where to place the light, but as day pass you have to keep a eye on it cause as it grows you have to raise the light or it will burn it

That will depend on your environment. With ideal temps and good air movement through the canopy, you can get as close as you dare. I've seen them <6" with no issues. Air movement is critical.
