Trying to root clones, getting browning on leaves.

Hi there all and I appreciate any help on this one.

I've been successfully growing for awhile and the one area that I can't seem to get down the cloning.

I finally thought I did though and now I have a new development.

Where the leaves are from the center they start to bronze, a light browning starts to go all over the new leaves and eventually dies. This usually starts about 4 to 6 days in.

I can't figure out why it's doing this. I've cleaned the trays with bleach and soapy water, switched mediums from Peat Pellets to Rockwool cubes, never resued and sit them in a nice dome. I can't figure this out, any help???

It looks like you cut them while the plant was flowering, did you? If so, you will have a harder time getting them to root.

if it starts out brown and turns to a rust color its a boron deff. certine eye wash solutions contain boric acid and its a simple fix.do u use a differnt water source for cuttings than your other plants?

No I use the same water on all of them. I understand about nutrient diffeiceny but since there are fresh cuttings they don't need them, they need to develop roots first.

Any other ideas? Some users have suggested putting them underlight as they are usually in low light areas.

boron usually wont show up because of a nute deff.its a micro element that should be naturally available in your water,if its not there in your water then u would need to correct it.

What kind of light do you have them under? I have never seen anything like that before, so IDK what to suggest. You must have a problem with one of the fundamentals of cloning, either your dome, light, temp, humidity, etc. since there is no way it could be a deficiency since there are no roots. Unless the plant you are taking the clones from is somehow deficient, those are the only things I can think of for your problems.

I have used rockwool for my clones, and it never ever worked well. Rockwool is a pain in the butt. Too sensitive, too many variables. I now use a stupid beer cup with good potting soil and some Clonex rooting gel.
I get 100% success. I have too many clones, I do not know what to do with them....

Well so far I don't have the clones under lights, so that might be something I need to fix.

The mother is very healthy so I can't figure out why this is happening. I might switch to soil next but what a pain in the ass that will be.

I've now resorted to just taking cuttings and letting them sit in water and see what happens there. I'm going mad trying to figure this out. *sighs* This strain is to important.

did you soak the rockwool cubic in 5.5ph and medium mild nutrient solution for like 2 to 3 hours? (i use to use rockwool and oasis cubic those fucker don't work that good low success rate i recommend rapid rooters and root riot) after you cut them you would like to place them under fluorescent bulbs right away you could go to walmart get the fluorescent light for like 30 bucks, light fixture is 14.95(cheaper one for 10.00 it's white but it has no on/off swtich just plug in) and the 2 fluorescent bulbs are 6.59each(the green one comes in single tube that say plant & aquarium they work pretty good)
