When topping off your rez.......
I have read that when peeps top off their rez that the preferred method is to top off with plain PH water untill you have added back the same amount as your rez holds, my question is when topping off would there be harm alternating between plain and nuted water? Meaning you have a full fresh rez on Sunday, Monday you are down a gallon so you add Plain PH water. Tuesday you are down a gallon so you add a gallon of nuted water. next topoff you do plain again and so on until end of week or 10 days (whatever you run) and then dump rez and start again. All thoughts are welcome so dont be shy

When topping off your rez.......
tinytoon,
That's what I do and my plants are turning out pretty darn dank and thick.
During Veg I add part A only ph'd even when I don't add parts B and C.
So far my experience has shown me that it's not an exacting science to the point where harm is done unless there is a gross mistake. I actally only have changed the rez once so far, when I flipped them to 12/12 and switched over to the flowering ratio. No saying that this is how you should proceed, but rather that DWC is that forgivable in respect to rez changes.
I'll swap again about 2 weeks before harvest to flush the nutes and make them more smokable, just ph's water...

You really should be changing out the water more often, different stages eat more food and nutrients become unbalanced, u can add nutes in with water, but it's advisable to change the water at least every 2 weeks, if u use less water i would do it once a week. Depending on ur set up u can go very long with no res changes, aeroponics would be the longest, dwc should be the shortest. Keeping this balance can be a huge advantage. Watching your ppms is a big factor, keep an eye on how much water transpires and if the ppms drop, normally adding in the same ppms is a good idea, but at some point your going to hit an unbalance.

Tiny,
This is my first post, but I've been on the boards for a while and am just wrapping up my first cabinet DWC grow. I've got one plant going in a tub that holds only about 1.5 gallons of water. I've always topped the resevoir with the same concentration of nutes as I used with the resevoir change. Usually about a quart or two every other day. I'm using Botanicare nutes, but that shouldn't matter for you. I never saw any nute burn, and I've grown what seems like a "monster" to me under cfls. I have changed the resevoir every seven days, and I think that's a good idea with such a small volume. Ph doesn't seem to stray much, and I just make sure that what I pour into the resevoir is right at 5.7. No problems for me doing it that way. I love DWC. Only issue has been the air wand plugging up. Live and learn. Good luck.
