Should the person who breaks a waterpipe be required to pay?

because if he's your friend you should be respectful and reimburse him for the property that you damaged..if you're my friend and my window falls down and shatters while you're rolling it down..my bad, it fucked up...if you're throwing something out of the window while it's up and break it, you're going to pay for it..if not, you're not a very good friend.

I'm always careful with bongs that belong to other people, and if I ever broke one due to my own negligence, I'd feel obligated to pay for it...but that's just the kind of person I am. Obviously you're the type that would rather buy cigarettes, beer, and or pot instead of giving your buddy back the money because he doesn't have anything to smoke out of anymore.

Absolutely!,If I broke someones piece(luckily have never broken my glass)I would be at the door to the headshop and back in enough time with a replacement to keep the circle going. I'm always really careful with all glass pieces because I collect them.:bonghit::bonghit::bonghit::bonghit:

Why shouldn't it be a mutually shared loss? Why should it be "hey you owe me."
Because you broke it. I understand that it was an accident but you shouldn't be using a $300 piece if you can't afford to pay for it if you manage to break it. I personally wouldn't ask one of my best friends to pay for a piece they broke, unless they were being careless when using it, however my pipe is a £5 pipe, and this is a $300 bong, there's a big difference, and for something that cost that much I'd be pretty upset if it was damaged and I'd definitely expect to see money from the person who damaged it.

If I broke someone's piece I'd pay them for it, regardless of how much it was worth. If I decide to smoke from an expensive piece I know that if it breaks I'm going to have to pay them a lot of money to get a new one.

Just pay him and be more careful next time, or smoke from a cheaper piece. You don't need a $300 bong to smoke, and it won't get you any more high than a well made home-made bong.

    Dude, you're tight.

If you both paid for it then he should have his half back or you should buy a new one, even a cheaper one.

    Bottom line, you owe him!

Yeah man, if you broke it you gotta pay him for it.

Go out and buy a new pipe/bong that maybe costs a little less is you're broke. Either replace the bong or he'll replace you.

Absolutely not if not discussed beforehand. One has to assume that shit happens especially with an apparatus that it's primary purpose is get high.
