new to hydro not to growing q?
I have a cabinet I'd like to put a passive hydro system in but it's only 20"D x 30"W x 36"H. Any advice on if this is big enough or am I limited to soil? Also any micro hydro grow advice or experience is welcome.

Yeah dats big enough man, you need a rubbermaid container with a lid that fits in the closet and you could probly grow 4 papaya or other 100% indica strain using dwc. Cut out holes in the lid of the container to take netpots, bit of hydroton, couple airstones. Bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt.
You cant skimp on equip. though you NEED a ph pen and TDS meter.

When I first started ran a similar system that you mentioned only with single unit 5 gallon buckets with air stones. I encountered lots of root rot. Is this a similar problem to watch out for and what could remedy it

Root rot happens when your roots dont get enough air. This suggests that youre airstones were inadequate/not powerful enough

Could be your nutrient solution is getting too hot. Keep it around 68 degrees. Very important.

First of all thanks for all the replies. Second I had a question about how to maximize sites beyond four as I'm trying a micro breeding program. I like the idea that if said plant turns out as a weak plant I can easily swap units and discard the cube.My dilemma is 4 units at a time really makes the art of selection difficult. This cabinet would be for veg only with a separate larger area for flower. So would like to learn more as far as ways to maximize sites.
