New guy here - Question about changing the time of day lights are on..

Hi guys - hope this question isn't too newb'ish

Anyways, I have a Master Kush, a Northern Lights/Blueberry, and a Frisian Dew plant all from clones from a friend except the Master Kush was a seed (still not 100% on sex). They're veg'ing right now under a 400w HPS light. They're doing great, and I'm about to start the flowering phase.

Right now, on veg'ing, the light timer is set from 5am to 12am at night (19hrs on). I amgoing to switch to the 12/12, but I'd like to change the time completely..

Will I have any probs if I change it to come on at 8pm and off at 8am?? That's outside it's normal light time now - I don't want to fuck them up!! Is it OK to change the light time like that completely? Anything special I could do to "ease" them in to the new schedule?? Or should I just change the timer so they come on at 12pm noon till 12am night?

My thing is I want the lights going all night for cheaper energy consumption..

    Any help is great! Thanks!!

going straight to 8pm to 8 am won't hurt anything......in fact, many growers let their plant do 24 hours of darkness; to start the flowering cycle. I do.

this is fine...but, remember...it is VERY, VERY important that there are no light leaks during the daytime. The grow room/area must be pitch dark during lights off. (and keep some ventilation going, at all times)

(uber dark, can't see your hand in front of your face, dark...:jointsmile

Got it!! I actually turned the lights on in the room last night, and went in the closet when the light went off.. Completely dark. Couldn't see my hand or any cracks of light at all coming through. I did a good job of light-proofing the closet. Used sticky felt from walmart to line the inside door frame. Door closes tight with no leaks.

And this morning is a very glorious morning.. I woke up, pulled Mr Kush out of the closet, and gave him a thorough examination.. I found pre-flowers ALL over *HER*

So happy. That means I'll have three very strong females as my first closet grow. My Frisian Dew is looking frickin fantastic. Must have 10 stem shoots all over it. It's LST'd to hell to keep it shorter.

I think this week mid week I'm going to move to 12/12. I have about a half gallon of veg'ing nutes mixed up so I'll use that up tomorrow, then probably switch the lights on wednesday..

I'll see about posting pics. Still kinda paranoid as it's not exactly legal in my state .. I am using privoxy/Vidalia though so I guess I should be OK

    Thanks for the help
