Question about a recommendation for MM

I would imagine the physicians in my town have heard plenty of "I'm stressed, gimmie weed" stories, but I've been dealing with stress related problems for years (severe heart palpitations, dizziness, insomnia) and recently started using marijuana and can't believe the benefits. Sleeping like a baby (finally!), no left over affects (like sleeping pills and alcohol) and I'm much more relaxed at work (not using at work, just the night before).

I have my medical records, but over the years I've only seen two doctors and a chiropractor (who thought he could cure the heart palpitations)for the symptoms because I keep hearing the same thing: "Its stress... so, relax." Or my last doctor who prescribed dramamine for the dizziness... thanks doc.

Do I need anything else? I just want to make sure I have everything in order on my first visit.

    Thanks in advance.

Question about a recommendation for MM

Valid picture ID and proof of residency (driver's license will work fine) and of course, the cash.

Hon, there are two basic types of MMJ doctors- BOTH want you to get the rec! There are the "whores" who will give you a rec if you are "warm and breathing", but may not be there for you if you go to court. And the "true believers" who know what a life saver cannabis can be and will stand by you in a bad situation. Both want you to get a rec, so unless you give out "cop vibes", you should get the rec with no hassle in California! Other states are more fussy.

Question about a recommendation for MM

Haha, "cop vibes." What do the doctors usually charge for the appointments and the rec?

    Thanks for your help.

Question about a recommendation for MM

Cannabis helps my heart palpitations immensely. It's definitely anxiety related.

Question about a recommendation for MM

Well, $250 for a first visit is the highest I have seen. Many places have lower prices- My doctor charges $200 for a first visit, $100 for a renewal- but he is about the only one who will give recs in my area. Still worth it- especially if you think of it as a monthly rate! It comes to under $20 per month to be free of the cops! A pure bargain!

Question about a recommendation for MM

Yeah, good point. OK, on last question! I've read some posts on here about not really needed "the card" that is (I think) issued by the county... right? Does that mean I can just use the paper work that the physician issues me to enter a facility?

Question about a recommendation for MM

All you need is the ORIGINAL document (a copy won't do!) from the doctor. For your first visit to a dispensary, go during your doctor's office hours, since the dispensary will need to verify your rec by calling the doctor.

Dispensaries often have their own ID cards (free or a few bucks). These cards make it so the dispensary doesn't have to verify you each visit.

There is also a "county card" which may get you on a list (less likely now since things are easing up). These ID you to the cops who are supposed to look at the county card and let you go - unless they can get you on something else. If you are a "cop magnet"- get the county card. Otherwise it's a waste of money.

Question about a recommendation for MM

    Raven32-

Hi, just saw your post. If you are in the L.A. area, MC2 is an office you can visit for a medical card.

Call (213) 765-9719 to pre-qualify and set an appointment to come in and see the doctor. If you are approved, you'll receive your recommendation and ID card.

    Hope this helps!

Question about a recommendation for MM

I only found two doctors on the NORML website that are local. However I just went to a dispensary and asked for a list of doctors in town who offer recommendations for qualified patients. They gave me a sheet with NINE other doctors who weren't on the NORML site.
