Organic Buds
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the fertilizers, hormones, and other nasty additives commercial growers use to maximize their weed has caused/is causing health problems. In moderation, chemical ferts do what they're intended to do, granted... but we're definitely on the same page when it comes to the more pleasant taste of organically grown buds that were cared for, flushed properly, etc.

I remember hearing a year or two back of some dealers putting silica, amongst other things, in their buds to bump the weight up. I know it was a pretty big problem in the UK at one point, and definitely was an issue in the States. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what was causing the sparks you described in those non-organic buds. Just another good reason for decriminalization/regulation of cannabis... take the power out of the hands of careless idiots just looking to make a buck on a sub-par product.
