I was very impressed with my Herbalaire , in fact, I'm surprised it isn't more popular ... maybe just more advertising, with the others ... :smokin:

The herbalAire sells quite well I think. I've owned one for a few years and it would still be my choice for a bag filler, considering the competing bag units are more costly (except the unreliable Vapir) and/or have the digital controllers, which increases your chances of failure. But dual mode units like the herbalAire and Extreme don't usually compete with whip only vapes. They're great if you plan to do both bags and direct draw, but if you want direct draw only, why bother with a dual mode unit?

I made the decision to pass on buying one of those a couple years back. I decided to not buy a cheapie and wait a couple more months till I could afford an SSV off eBay. I'm definitely happy with my decision because it was probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. I estimated that with the money I saved using it, it paid itself off in about a month and a half. That was well over a year ago and it still works like new despite being knocked onto the floor three times. In fact I just sold it to a friend for $175 with accessories, so that I could upgrade to the limited edition (1st of 5) Mind Eraser SSV.

I have an exact visual knock-off (in plain black packaging) that a local head shop sold me for $115.

They're the same folks who got me licensed, for my caregiver rights with no discount, in their dispensary.:wtf:

They're not my caregiver any longer, and I'm not that happy with the vape, either.

I'd never vaped before but 40+ yrs smoking have left me with very little lung left and taking medicine shouldn't make you sicker, no matter what hospitals do.

First problem; they recommended I vape at 300F, too low for full effect - very little vapor produced - so I felt like I wasn't even getting high, wasting good bud, with almost no pain effect.

After looking around here and fuckcombustion.com I've been using it at about 354F indicated, getting fairly good vapor with really big draws (after all those years of smoking my capacity is huge, I just can't use much of it.) I ended up at 354 because above that is where I start to taste plant.

I think the digital indicator is mostly marketing - you don't know what temp the element actually is, the knob doesn't seem calibrated in its effect, it's still guesswork. In addition, it has sometimes run away - climbed endlessly. Turning off and waiting for a couple of hours works but ain't no good when you need now! I wouldn't pay extra for this.:S4:

I've learned to use it, but it was a large learning curve, and I've tried a friend's SSV - it delivers much bigger hits. Have also tried a volcano at a local dispensary - gentler hit, similar to the one I have but way more consistent in vapor produced.

I'll be upgrading. Just haven't decided to what yet.

    :thumbsup:Save your money.

If you are buying a cheap vaporizer, then you are correct in saying that the digital readout is simply marketing. It is just something that makes the unit appear more sophisticated. I believe it is actually measuring the approximate temp of the heater element, which isn't the same as the air temp.

If you liked the type of hits that you got out of the SSV, then I would take a look at the DBV (DaBuddha Vaporizer). It is the little brother of the SSV, and contains the same ceramic heater but the outside isn't as flashy as the SSV. Still an amazing product, but at a more wallet-friendly price point.
If you prefer the ease of use that a bag system offers and don't need to monster rips that the SSV or DBV provide, then I would take a look at the HerbalAire. I've read quite a bit about them, and they seem to make a top quality product.

Hello, I have tried a couple of vaporizers on the market. As you know, the Volcanos are very expensive, but if I may recomend one, it would be the KIA Vaporizer. It comes in a small lunchboxish shape and I believe it is the best for the price. For us it was 170USD. My friends and I bought one around a month ago, it not only does the trick, but if you are looking to save some herb, but at the same time get the full effects, I suggest the KIA Vaporizer. Also it produces a lot of vapor, but it does smell similar to slightly burnt popcorn, but i say that with caution because it is a bearable smell to endure.

Great advice. I would have said the exact same thing with one addition. If efficiency is at the top of your priority list, than do consider the Purple Days vape but they are a bit harder to hit, so someone with decreased lung capacity would be served better by the vapes mentioned above. But the PD can provide 3 to 4 good, tasty hits from 0.025g. Not too many other vapes that can claim that.
    Current Vapes: Purple Days
    Past Vapes: VaporGenie----Iolite-----VaporStar----Da Buddha----Zephyr Ion

good advice here, but very confusing. I did not buy the cheap ebay vape because you get what you pay for... I am off to research some of the suggestions here, I think getting the most vapor from a gram is very important, saving money on a vaporizer is not worth wasting money on inefficiency for year.

    thanks for all the suggestions.
