    First time tincture quality assessment.

Hi everyone, I just joined this marvelous community and I already have a question!

I haven't smoked for 2 weeks now because the less I smoke is proportionate to the more girlfriend I get. Unfortunately I was unable to finish off my cannabis before I started this lull. It has been whispering to me from under my bed since I stopped.

Yesterday, I decided to put an end to that by making a tincture out of it. I had 3.8 grams of high grade northern lights bud and a bottle of Everclear, 151 proof or 75% alcohol. I ground up the bud to a powder without drying it completely, put it in a mason jar and added the Everclear. This is how it looks after 24 hours.

Keep in mind this is holding it up to the light. It has a very nice chlorophyll green colour against the sunlight, or in this case an LED light.

This is a more regular view of the fluid itself with normal lighting conditions against a normal background. It is a much darker green, I would describe it as pine and cloudy with all the THC trichomes.

This view is sort of a reference for how much pot is in the jar, how big the jar is and how much Everclear is in the jar.

So what do you guys think, is the color looking good? Should I increase the pot to alcohol ratio? (I want a mixture that will allow me to take a shot or two and be blown, this is not something I want to get drunk off of for three reasons: I don't have enough, I don't want to drink too much and get comatose stoned, and Everclear is fucking disgusting.)

    Thanks!

Looks like its doing good. Shake it a little once in while to help it remove the thc. Be sure and run the liquid through a coffee filter when you're done.

The more weed you use the less liquid you will have to consume. At this point I would presume that the anticipation of sampling the final product is overwhelming. Take out a couple of table spoons, then add another 1/8 of pot and wait at least 30 days to sample. When you do sample just take some off the top of the jar and let the weed continue to soak. I've never been sure at what point your maximum soaking time is, but it doesn't seem to hurt letting it soak for a long time. Coffee filters work or per the Master Wu method use a garlic press on a little of the weed at a time straining it into another jar so that you don't accidentally spill your jar of tincture.

enjoy - and let us know how it turns out

Yes the urge is incredibly hard to resist. I actually gave a sample to my friend last week just to see how far it had come after 1 week. He was the perfect test subject because he hadn't blazed or ingested cannabis in 6 weeks, he got blitzed off of one shot. Sort of regrettable though because I really do not have as much liquid as I thought.

Anyway, I have been shaking it regularly and keeping it wrapped in a towel to keep it nice and cozy. The most notable changes are the color of the concoction turning from a chlorophyll green to an amber yellow, the state of the ground marijuana which looks like gelatin at this point, very pale almost see through, and the THC trichomes which have become sort of bloated. Of course there are pictures.

The yellow color is not due to my wall color, I made sure I targeted the roof. And it actually is that color in person. Sorry I have such a shitty camera, but Ive had bad experiences with these type of pictures on others.

It is looking very very sexy. Ill keep it for another week probably and then ill start a report of the consumption. Thanks for your interest!

Keep in mind that you will be consuming thc in a very concentrated form. For me, my tolerance goes up dramatically after using tincture and takes a week or so to get back to where the tincture seems to have maximum effect. That's why I leave the weed in the alcohol longer doesn't seem to hurt and might just help.

Smoking a small amount about an hour after ingestion really complements the brew. Don't expect to get much done. And have as empty a stomach as possible. Tincture and coffee makes a wonderful way to start a weekend morning.

Enjoy and let us know how it worked.

Wow, that's all I can say. I kept it in there for exactly 3 weeks and I could not have waited any longer.

I used a dental syringe and squirted a whole shot under my mouth and chased it down with some orange juice. Tasted like shit ill be honest, but not unbearable. I got high so fast for an edible, within 20 minutes. That batch produced about 4-5 full shots worth of liquid and I would sometimes only do half a shot, for example going to a play or library.

Yeaaah anyway 100% worth the wait and weed. One thing I would do next time is let it settle for longer and maybe use one type of cannabis instead of a mixture of like 4 different types. To answer your question about the best way to make it, use Everclear or something with at least 50% + alcohol (not proof, alcohol percentage.) You dont have to use top quality nugs for it, but if your making a relatively small batch like mine I would recommend using 15$ a gram bud.

I hope that helps. It was extremely strong.
