BD's CFL peakseed adventure!
I am making the. Exact. Same. Thing. This is an awesome re-assurance. My friend who im building it with says we wont need to move the lights, what is yout experience on the light fixtures?
Hocmat Reviewed by Hocmat on . BD's CFL peakseed adventure! Well folks, like stated in my other grow, I have a little winter project to keep me busy. I was inspired by Bodoms DIY rubbermaid, so I figured why not build one for myself! Well I did just that. Initially I had planned on trying to spend as little as possible, but I quickly found out that I didn't have very much around the house. I had to buy; the rubbermaids(13.50 each, wallymart), the 3 light bar and y-splitters(8.99 + 1.99ea, home dePOT) 2 23w cfl 4 packs, 2700k & 6500k (~12.00ea, Rating: 5

My light fixture is bolted to the rubbermaid with about 1" of space between the rear of the fixture and the top of the box. I just used some wood for support and the extra space so the fan can suck good. I just use stacks of CD's to to prop up the plant so far, so that the intakes don't get blocked, works like a charm, and I can just take a few out everytime she gets to close to the lights.
Also I did get a fixture designed for bathrooms, so it can get "damp", but the sockets are only 60w MAX so don't go out and put 6 42w CFLs in it or else you might start a fire. Anyways man I am pretty impressed with the box so far, I had a bit of a heat problem at first because I had put some nylons over the intake holes to catch dust, etc. Once I took them off its been 70-75* at 18/6, I haven't had the thermometer in there for a bit because I have nowhere to put it where I can read it from the top, but I am pretty sure its about the same. I am thinking of adding another 120mm fan to the inside to get the air moving a bit better but I'm not too worried about it right now.
Good luck man, make sure you post up a grow log when you get around to doin it!
Oh yeah also like I said before, if I were making another one, I would just paint the damn thing, the emergency blankets were a huge pain to put in. Just make sure you use enough coats to make it light proof.

Yeah im just onna grab some square pots, and stack up books. We bought 8 23watt cfl's. I have a mother growing right now, and when this gets built were using 2 for the mother and 6 for all the clones well e cutting. PC fan and carbon filter for airflow, and all the electrical is set up so far. Hopefully finished by the end of this weekend!

Check out the explosive growth, damn this thing is starting to get big! Also starting to perfume the air

Also note the before and after her watering, need to keep my lights/space maximized!
One thing I have noticed is the plant has seemed to grow the most around the 2700k lights. Whenever I rotate/lower its always around them that there is the most growth. I don't have another bulb, so I guess next time I will try with 6 2700k instead of 5-1.
OK enough talking more PICTURES!!!

Hey Shove thanks for checking out my log. I cannot believe how much this sucker grows in just 2 days! Seriously vigorous growth constantly, its wonderful, really makes me wish I had a cloning/veg setup so I could have kept her, oh well next time
. Anyways I keep tying the tall parts down the best I can to keep her nice and close to the lights, but I figure another week or so and the stretch should hopefully be over and they can start filling out.:stoned:
Oh yeah I forgot to add that I can't wait till harvest so everyone can see how much LST'ing went into this baby, the main stem is bent up like a freakin pretzel

Thanks Hotmac good luck with it:jointsmile: Anyways here is 3 weeks, sorry I didn't take any close ups today, I just kinda checked on her and rotated her, it appeared that there was a pinkish hue creeping into some of the pistils, so thats interesting:wtf::wtf:. I WILL get better pics when I water her either tomorrow or the next day.

I need to figure out how to take good macros under florescent light. Anyways, you can clearly see the pink. Looking at the peakseeds page, I am thinking it might be either Northernberry, Northernskunk, or possibly Blueberry, as they are the only strains on the page that have some color to them:rasta: Also today I took off all of my ties, I am thinking I'll have just the right amount of room left to let this baby finish in.
