MMJ Card and Insurance companies?
Hi,
I'm about to get my card and I'm going to either get a referral through a dispensary or go to one of these "green" clinics (not associated w a dispensary). I do have insurance through my employer, but I haven't been to the doctor in years, despite having debilitating migraines.
Anyway, I'm concerned with whether or not my insurance company will find out that I have a MMJ card? Also, will any future primary care docs I visit have knowledge of my MMJ card? Or, if I'm just going to see a specialist for some unrelated condition, will he/she be able to see in my medical records that I've been prescribed MMJ? I'm afraid that some doctors still don't see the benefits of MMJ and I don't want to turn them off or make them think I'm a drug-seeker immediately.
Basically, I'd like to know what happens to the records established for me when I get my card referral through a dispensary or "green" clinic. Will these records be transferred to other doctors? Or will they pretty much remain only in the file cabinet at the dispensary/clinic (and obviously sent to the state too).
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this...
Peace,
LP

Does it somehow go down on your permanent medical records if you go see different doctor? I guess I don't know how medical records are shared in the medical community. Please help? I've got an appt Fri and this is hugely weighing on my mind!Brown-eyed women and red grenadine...

MMJ Card and Insurance companies?
I went through my Primary Care Physician and after many bouts with Vicodin and Percocet I asked about Marinol, I explained that through my research I felt it a safe non addictive alternate to the other two meds. He agreed to try; this also covered me for urinalysis at work as Marinol can be prescribed. It was a talk I was willing to have with my doc, as it seemed to cover two fronts. None of my MMJ stuff is in any of my ā??insuredā? med files. Now I am a patient and caregiver so, if you have any questions or would like help PM me.
