    California State issued ID Cards

Reading the 215 it says to not be hasseled by the law you need to have the State issued ID card.

I have a doctors note. Should I get the State ID card?

What is involved in getting the State card?

unless something has recently occurred that I am ignorant of, there is no such thing as a 'state card' in California :wtf: ... some of the counties issue cards (mine does not) ... you don't need a 'card' to purchase or grow, cannabis ... call your county district attorney's office, ask them how your county is doing it ... :smokin:

I have a state card issued by LA county. If you have a case, are on probation or parole, on the front lines or just want that extra security then get one. The law enforcement can varify your status on the spot. Some law enforcement will not accept anything else simply because they are too lazy to verify your doctors letter, they will let the courts do that. You will be fine in court with your doctors letter.

All you need to grow, posess, and go to clubs in CA is a hard copy perscription. The card is just an ID. In fact having the ID lets the county (cops!!!) know who you are, that you have it, and where you live. If you just get the perscription no one except you and your doctor has to know. If a cop tries to cite you a perscription will do, and if it doesnt a judge will have to let you go on it. DONT GET THE PIECE OF PLASTIC ITS A SHAM!!!

I agree the dr.'s rec is the only necessary thing, but not all law enforcement would agree, and from what I've read, the state/county card is the only immediately verifiable identification that police recognize. Sure, the court may back up your case eventually, but when an officer confiscates an ounce or two from you, having to fight in court is itself an issue.

I'm curious if there are any medical growers that can share their perspective.
Does the chance of having law enforcement confiscate their grows and equipment make being upfront and getting a county card more desirable?

I believe you are right, it may be the only way to immediately get rid of the cops if you were outside your house. But Ive been pulled over with o's b4 and been let go with a simple xerox of my perscription and they let it go.

I've only had my rx for a month, and its a piece of paper. I was informed that a "card" would put your name on a registration list, and if you ever wanted to purchase a handgun in the state you would be unable to do so. Other than that, any "card" isn't going to do much more for you than a regular piece of paper will.

I just tonight went and signed up as a patient at a club that was new to me, and they were able to verify my patient status via the internet. I asked if they saw my name, and they said no, that there was a # on the rx that validated the authenticity of the rx, but there was no name attached to it, other than the prescribing dr's. /hth

They are SUPPOSED to be confidential, but I trust my local government about as far as I could throw the county courthouse! However, if you transport cannabis often (keep it in the trunk!), a minor, or are a "cop magnet", it might be wise to risk it. I'm in my 60s, and look like an over-the-hill, frumpy housewife, so it would be a total waste of money for me.

The fact that we must deal with all this hassle is a bunch of BS! Cannabis has never killed anyone as a result of an OD (much safer than aspirin!) and should have the same restrictions on it as St. John's Wort or ginseng or any other medicinal herb! Clean, free of pesticides and accurately labeled!

And while I'm ranting (just medicated :stoned: ) I recently paid $30 a pound for the cheapest grade of ginseng powder. Ginseng takes years to grow, is touchy about soil and weather, and produces only a few ounces of dried roots per plant. Cannabis is an easy to grow annual and can produce a pound per plant if grown outdoors. Its price is in the $1000s of dollars for a pound of dried flowers. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? :wtf:

The difference is PROHIBITION! Become an activist and let's get those prices where they should be! I used to buy fat $10 ounces- baggies so full you could barely close them! I can remember getting a $65 "kilo" that weighed 2.5 pounds! Think about it.
