canada strains or first time.. couple stupid questions attached

I got a copy of the Jorge Cervantes videos from a friend but I still have a question or two about seeds. First off, I'm in Canada if that matters on supply or strain endurances in colder climates or this hemisphere. I'm trying to get my doctor to prescribe medical for back issues and some of the other symptoms that go along with it. If I get a mmj card I would like to produce my own; for various reasons Including I'm curious if I could.

Some questions come up about seeds, and which ones to pick or what to look for. First if I were producing with a license here would I need to produce only a medical strain? One site I saw was bc seeds, they seem to be good and guarantee delivery. Are there some more suggestions in Canada or are they pretty easy to get? (would they even look if its mj seeds or for... I dunno turnips?)

sorry if you all probably heard these questions before, I guess I'm not shy about asking stupid questions..

I know you are looking for one good female plant, which you can clone. But does it make a difference if its a "feminized" seed or do you need a combination of both if you are just producing?

With pain releif in mind, and not looking for anything super strong or complicated for a first grow could someone suggest a decent sativa? bc sweet and ak47 are two I've sort of picked out from bcseeds but not for sure :/ ?

The important thing is where are you growing? Indoor or outdoor? If you are doing outdoor in Alberta, you wil need to get a strain that finishes early, like mid september. I ordred seeds from bcseeds last spring, I harvested none of the 10, thanks to the awesome weather we had. If you do indoor, you can prety much order whatever you want. If you order seeds from a site based in canada, parcels within the border are not searched, at all, so don't worry about that. I recommend ordering a random 20 pack from peakseedsbc to learn from, great price(35 bucks, shipped), their strains look good(check out italianos PS blueberry grow), and you can learn a great deal just from trying.

Hemp Depot , they're in Canada, and ship worldwide ... good, honest folks there ... BUT, for first grows, I would suggest using bagweed seeds, great for learning without risking a lotta bucks $$$ ... :smokin:

our seasons are so short depending on where you live in canada. In manitoba there are very few strains you can grow. Manitoba poison, Fast manitoba or other really early strains will fully mature. From what i have read, the early strains aren't all that potent either.

I would be in maritimes. The seasons aren't too bad but of course now its raining and temperature dropping. Inside would be preferable, I'm mostly a private person so wouldn't want people gawking at my greenhouse.
I guess that indoors early growers aren't much of an issue unless you want a fast crop. They are still outdoor/indoor, correct?

thanks for the links. I'd rather buy canadian for many reasons. I haven't found one or two types of seeds but prices are good and some have good information about thc, grow times. woot

reaper and bone daddy, did you find a mix of sativa/indica or some hybrids? Were they decent quality for smoking? (smooth, thc level)

If you are in the maritimes, why do you have the Alberta flag? Anyways, doesn't matter, I was looking at hemp depot, doing some research for next years grow, it really depends on how much you want to spend, if anything(the reason I say spend 35 from peakseeds, save some cash, still good genetics). Like I said before though, I never got a successful harvest yet, growing with bagseed/bcseeds, but that isn't going to stop me from trying again, which I am in the process of(indoor this time).

Another thing is do you have a lighting setup planned/grow space/nutrients/ph adjusters/ph readers/etc all ready? This is the sort of thing you have to have done BEFORE you start growing seeds. Having a plan is way way way better than just ordering some seeds and figuring it out after they are already out of the ground/bucket.

'Joey Weed' seeds, at Hemp Depot, are outstanding, especially for that price ... I highly recommend his stuff

haha never noticed the flag before. whopps!
well I don't want to spend over 100$ for sure, less than 75$ would be preferable. I wasn't too sure of the sub $50 group but I guess I do need something to get my hands dirty.

For setup, I only want a few as a test and produce a few plants. Probably enough to self medicate for a while before doing the process over/refining.
My basic plan right now is to get the electronics soon, ph meter, barometer/thermometer from ebay and then decide on setup. I though of cloning the growing room in the video (8ftX8ftx8ft) but thats probably too big for a few plants. I saw a post here using a large tupperwear container from walmart for a single plant - to me it looks promising for a test or may be halfing the room (in vid), and lamps.

I saw your first grow attempt bonedaddy, it seemed to go pretty well and the plants seemed healthy at first. I'm hoping I get at least that far on my first attempt as well - course hoping to get buds but never know.

I saw a show recently where they soldered on many led together into a board to create a very high intensity, low powered spotlight. I also know that certain led can use different light spectrums. I was wondering if anybody has use this sort of technology for growing? They could perhaps not take the place of some of the 1000w lamps but maybee could be used in a grow closet? I mean the things were strong enough to signal someone on the iss (even if it was a hundred of those units thats still impressive)
