Help - CO Detox Ctr refuses service due to medical use of MJ
Hi all - hope this is the correct place to post this challenge I've got and hoping for guidance on how best to resolve.
I have a CO Medical MJ registry card due to Trigeminal Neuralgia. It's been a god sent & has allowed me to postpone brain surgery, in hopes medical techniques will improve over time, reducing the high level of risk associated with surgery now.
My challenge, at the moment, is I'm an alcoholic in need of treatment, again. Unfortunately, the rehab/detox center, that in the past has helped me successfully stop drinking, now refuses to allow me to begin treatment due to my medical use of MJ.
I understand companies do not have to accommodate employees who use medical MJ but what about rehab/detox centers denying medical services & treatment to patients using same?
Any ideas how I might be allowed treatment for my alcoholism even though I use medical MJ for a different condition?
Thx. in advanceTotalBalance Reviewed by TotalBalance on . Hm... honestly if you have a your MJ card legally then they shouldn't be able to refuse you. I don't even know if they should be able to refuse you period. A treatment center is for helping people right? I'd say they'll let you in.

Thx for your reply!

FYI, my reason for sharing the challenge I'm facing is it seemed to me a disconnect existed, due not for medical reasons but rather political/legal concerns; driven by profit motive over health issues for the patient. It was prompted out of curiosity. I'm no activist.
Bottom line, it just got a lot harder for me to recover from Alcoholism & I'm looking for help, if it's out there. Considering my medical challenges and the medications, the post was more about a reality check for me.
I didn't want to delay my alcoholic recovery program, ergo I began as planned on Monday. As of today, the clinic is still "reviewing" so "on the fly" I continue to develop a "self help" treatment program/support network that succeeds where I haven't alone.
At the moment I'm investigating how either Rational Recovery and/or Live Rings might fit. I'm also blessed to have a group of Drs, friends & family there for me. Yes, I've tried AA multiple times previously, doesn't quite work for me.
Any other thoughts/ideas always welcome!
Thx in advance for your understanding

Definitely talk to your doctor and explain the circumstances, who ever is your immediate care provider should be able to either write a note as proof or some other such thing to the detox center or find an even better one that will suite your needs regardless of if you're an MMJ patient!
I'm sorry you where treated that way, a detox center should be looking to HELP you with any addiction problems you have with proof of need for MMJ. A true "health" center won't turn those who are actively trying to better themselves and live healthier lives away. I think you're better off going through a different detox!

hello, my question is why do you drink? Is there an issue that you are seeking to escape? When I was drinking a fifth of wild turkey 151 at every turn, it was to get away from the mental pains of lost love, failing of school(college) feelings of why do I have to be less than everyone else. and the catch was anyone I tried to get help from only made fun of me. Just asking where is the foundation for your drinking; may be we can help you beat it.

Perhaps start with an addiction therapist that can get to know you personally. That way you don't have to worry about finding a detox program that will allow mj. What about a 12 step, I don't think you would need to disclose it or that it would preclude you form coming to the meetings.
