I'm one of those rare birds, that thinks this whole 'lucas formula' idea is a load of crap (don't take my word for it, read the ingredients, of your 3-part formulas, you will see, leaving out Part One, not only lessens the nitrogen, but also leaves out important micronutrients and minerals) ... don't concern yourself with available nitrogen in flower (in my opinion) ... and, most importantly, ignore the color of the pistils (hairs), that does not give a true reading of maturity ... harvest according to the color of the trichomes, and only, the trichomes ... LOTS of trichome postings in here, can be found with the 'Search' function ... happy gardening

Hi SmokeOn, I am on my third DWC grow now, with the previous 2 being pretty successful. On my second grow (during the summer) I noticed a problem that sounds similar to what you are encountering.

First thing is that in DWC you should aim to keep the pH between 5.2 and 6.2 (I like to keep mine around 5.5 to 5.6).

The other thing is nute temparature, I found if it rose above about 25 - 26 celsius (about 77 to 79 deg farenheit) it caused problems with the plant like leaves curling and going brown and crispy. The way I got round it was to fill a plastic bottle with water, freeze it, and place it in the DWC bucket to reduce the nute temps (leave the lid on the bottle so it doesn't dilute your nutes). Put a frozen bottle in each day for best effect.

So I would check your nute temperature and if it is higher than say 75 deg F, add a bottle of ice and see if it helps.

If you are growing in a cabinet or tent then put your air pump that is running your airstones outside of the tent/cab where temps should be a lil cooler. The air pump will draw in the cooler air and pump that into your res to make your bubbles. Warmer air = warmer res temp

Looks like nitrogen deficiency, and possibly Mg deficiency, The plant leaves normally turn yellow when u get to the end of flowering because of the nitrogen uptake to the buds, but then u have burns in the leaves that are cause from nutrient lock up, that happens when u have an uneven amount of nutes, like too much Ca and not enough Mg, this happened to me a while back, i flushed the nutes and roots then made sure i had the right amount of everything. Ph can also be a huge problem because the roots will absorb different minerals at different Ph, so u can start your ph low at 5.3 and let it rise to 5.9 and then pull it back down again, the wonders of HYDRO!!

What water are u using? i was using well water at 250ppm, very high and loads of minerals so i had to take that into account when i added my nutes.

I think your issue could well be the PH, thats more of a ph for soil not hydro, get it into the 5 range and keep it there.

im using sink water ? i hear is not good to use that but im using HARD WATER MICRO with GROW and BLOOM mix. i went to the dro store and they say i might have RUST. ? WTH i guess this is what i get for using sink water. what should i do now? can i harvest early or is it going to be pointless ? the rust is slowy growing to the buds. man this sux. here is more pic of the leaf now and how is slowy spreading . i wus reading now how if i wanna harvest early i should do the 10 light and 14 hour darkness because dark is where the herb make the trichrome ? or should i cut the leaf off so it wont go on to the buds. ? sux to because im so close ....Noooooo

I dunno what ur guy is telling rust? what? noooo dont harvest early!! keep it 12 12, flushy your plant roots with distilled water, clean out your res, and leave distilled water in there for 2 days. this will flush your plant. If your using tap water make sure to let it sit a day or two to evaporate the chlorine. If your flowering, just use the bloom mix, no grow/veg is needed. This looks like a deficiency but can be misleading. after you flush the plants add in half of the nutes you were using before, and let the plant adjust from shock. You should see any burn stop at this point, get some epsom salt too and add in a table spoon per 2 gals with the 1/2 nutes your using. and up the nutes after the plant starts to show signs of good growth. Your in a shock stage right now, so u need to nurture her back into shape. You may have locked up your plant with to much nutrients, u can tell if the new growth is just as bad as the old. If the lower leaves are the problem then it could be a deficiency, by the looks of the burns your locking up nutes in the leaves, they burn the plant, a deficiency will not burn as quickly, you will see the leaves change color then see burn, but some of your leaves have just burns.
