    ebb n flow

    wus up yall i just build my first ebb n flow with a 10 gallon tubba wear on top of other one wit the flow and drain pipe. is pretty eazy to build but im i suppose to leave it running 24 hour ??? or do i needa time it like the drip system ??? and can i drown the the plant roots and raiped rooter???? and can i over feed ??? thanks im still new to the ebb n flow. im good with the DWC beside keeping the ph still. LOL

    yes it has to be on a timer, I flood mine 4 times a day for 15 mins each

    thank tiny for the reply. what is your timer set time so i can copy that on my timer. and other thing about my built e&f is the water doesnt drain all the way is it ok if still water set there ??? or should i put a bubbler there to because of that still water? if not i gotta unplug the tube from the sub pump so the flow will take most of the water out. pretty ghetto LOL.

    how is your tray setup?? Mine has a layer of Hydrotron then the RW blocks and more hydrotron around it. how deep is the standing water your talking about?? simple time for your timer would be every 6 hours for 15 mins each

    are u using a sump pump or an aquarium pump? u shouldnt be using a sump.1,if it losses its pressure hold it will stop pumping water"like say u pumped the water up the table 2 fast and the rez was left empty 2.most pumps except i think the little giant will not give u back flow "wich u need,when your timer turns off,a fish tank pump will" this acts as a double drain for your table once the timer has run its course. i could also drill like 2 or 3 1/4 inch holes in the bottom of the table.as long as your rezervoir has an open lid and sits directly under those holes.

    i wus wondering if is ok if the root poke out the circle net pot and is expose to the light ? if not i guess i gotta get the kind that is not not open on the side .

    fill in the empty space with hydrotron rocks to keep the roots out of the light. You only need to flood about 4 times a day. Maybe more.

    If you dont want to use up your rocks u can get a big black bag and cut holes out for plants, it will help with clean up too. i used your same exact setup once and thats what i did, u can then use a white bag on top of the black one to reflect light and heat, But the roots must be in darkness. If thats the 3x3 ebb and flow table i have the same exact one. the bags can be a b*tch sometimes and i wound up finding a lid to a container that i cut holes in for the net pots to sit in and it sat on top of the table. This is where creativity pays off. i searched for a long time and never found a lid insert for this 3x3 system.
