$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
I am going to be builing a single grow box for 5 plants, and have about $150 for the lights. I found a light that looks good for around that price, i just want to make sure Im not getting ripped off or passing up a better deal on other lighting before i buy this;

$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
i would say a rip. (most of those lights you see are for like interior/aesthetic design purpose =a luxury)
150$ for 8000 lumens at 4feetx2 on t5? (thats 1000lumen per lateral square feet.)
you could buy 20 cfl for roughly 50$ comeout with about (say you used 23w bulbs) 460w@roughly (average is on low per bulb lumen 1500) 30,000 lumen.
spend 100 on diy mounting/wiring/venting. and bam. id say 5 plants strong.:thumbsup:

$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
I understand what your saying, but its not a 4 foot lamp, its a 2 footer with 4 bulbs, does that make a difference?
I was going to do basically exactly what you just recommended but we are a bit worried about the heat produced, priority number 1 is fire hazards.

$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
haha sorry bud .some widow and the mind thinks a bit too much :jointsmile:
so you got 8000 in 2x1. thats alot better. pretty much matching the Wper sq ft.
with cfls. but. what i said earlier takes into account more space . so more light.
and 5 plants??? it just seems unlikely to me.. i would maybe do one plant under that light major lst.
maybe u could help understand the conditions. will you be straight blooming 5 female clones (1 week veg adapt. then switch) ?

$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
I ordered a pack of femenized white widow seeds and we plan to grow from that, this is only to support the habits of two people so its a rather small operation. (this is my first time growing)

$150 lighting for small 5 plant grow box,
Hear is the deal...white widow grows rather large and will require a 3 gallon pot to flower. The light you are looking at has a light footprint of not much larger than a (one) square 3 gallon container. T-5 lights require that you lower the light down to no more that a couple or 3 inches from the tops of your plant(s) to receive enough light for decent growth. T-5 lights in my opinion are super for veging plants but I just don't think you get the penetrating power that a HPS system has. You may be better off looking at a 150watt HPS system and doing like 2 plants a grow until you get the hang of growing. White widow does not smell like roses when growing, what have you planned about odor control? Nothing will get you busted faster than the smell of pot coming from your residence.
