Flowering stretch/plumpin

Yo I am curios as to during the last few weeks of flowering this is when your buds are spose to start plumpin up. And the beginning of flowering is your stretch. My question is in theses last few weeks of plumpin/fatten up will some the buds actually plump/fatten upward. Like i got a 1 inch in between the top cola an the 2 buds below it, will theses 2 buds grow to merge with the top cola.
