    Sun system Ac hoods

I don't have all the stuff I need yet. Trying to get it all re figured out before I go drop the lil money I have left on more stuff.

<<<<scrubber<<<<Fan<<<< duct Y adapter<<<<<<<hood<<<<Air fro out the box to cool light down more. The Y adapter would be set so it pulls air threw the Ac hood and the box. The part not attached to the fan/hood ends would have a reducer on it to limit air suction. An I still could have a passive system air exchange By pulling air threw my hood to cool the bulb and out the box.? Make any sense.? I thought with Ac hoods the object was to pull cooler air over the bulb an straight out the box, Thus letting you get the light closer to the top of the plant canopy. Which work better for deeper penetration, Maybe I just mistook something. I will try to get pics when I get it all worked out and together tho Frosted.

On the site of Fan maker I have (Suncourt), It say the max boosted cfm = 500 and free air cfm = 210. It is a Inductor inline fan and on the box tho it say 500 cfm.? So I am a little confused as to what boosted and free air Cfm means. If anyone can chime in.?

    Thanx

Kbg, Damn I have seen that same thing and wondered, but I am guessing it means it has a max of total cfm that it can safely even have inline like from the furnace or source connected to it...not sure tho and I have the munches... I bought a Ecoplus Premium Inline fan with a 440cfm at max, and then I got the speed control for it and I am glad I did it is damn loud and probably more then I needed, kinda rethinking it before using it.. Doesn't hurt to do recon does it...:eat:

No I believe recon is what must be done, In order to get better an dialed in. Will See what happens tho, I'll figure something out i guess. But it sounds like you did the right thing in my opinion, If noise is not a issue your okay since you can always turn it down if someone comes over. No since in trying to cheap out the ventilation, And you may upgrade ya lights lots of possibilities.

Yeah I am happy with upsizing on the fan, I did buy the speed control which should be included you would think for around 200 bucks total.

Did you decide yet on some things yet or make the leap and buy a good fan?:rasta:

    simple answer.

Pull the air dont push it. Suck from the end of the bulb not the socket. easier to work with. Pulling moves more air. When youy push the air threw the hood you end up with dead spots in the hood. corners if you have them that the air pools in. You loose air flow. suck dont push.

Yo thank for the input, I know I want to have the fan pulling air not pushin it. I was more interested on my passive airflow and ac cooling with 1 fan. I am just gonna figure this out and work with what I got been pretty busy lately so have not had the time to think and get situated.

Hey, KBG. Just read through the thread. While the "Y" with damper will give some added control over venting the space/light, IME it's unnecessary. If you're moving a decent volume of air, the difference in temperature between the two separate intakes will only be 3 or 4 degrees *at most*. The difference will be negligible for the purpose of cooling the bulb. Drawing your air from a single opening will simplify things, and be just as effective.

Basically what Frosted said, earlier in the thread. Just thought I'd toss in my $.02.

Good Luck! Half the fun of this hobby is figuring stuff out!
