CO2 overdose?
That's the same thing i figured. It's the only thing i've changed from last seasons indoor closet grow (veg) and outdoor greenhouse grow (flwr). I was changing the bottle out every 10 days or so, but I noticed the funky smell within 3-5 days. This is SW Tx, temps 90 nt - 106 dy in my outdoor 12/12 and 76-80 in the closet 24/7. That had to have an effect. Glad to know that some one sought the science.
That was part of the problem. The other was a very bad pH. I did the MG, Ocean Forest, Happy Frog, Soilless mix and it all went acidic to around 5.8pH. I had to repour 1gal wtr (reuse the same water and readjust to 6.7) every watering before the fert schedule.
One thing I discovered was that my runoff pH went further acidic when the ferts were adjusted from a +ph down to the target pH. I found that adjusting about .5 below the target pH and neutralizing up to the target held the pH closer to the target between feedings; only droped to aroung 6.3 pH.
Then i thought the salty air here helping to suck the leaves dry. I would mist and mist not realizing that i was washing all of the salt off of the leaves and right into the soil. The salty air faded my cars paint. I found that i could reduce the amount of salt in in the air inside my grow with 1gal H2o (milk jug)-1 small box baking soda-aerator. I'm not sure of the science behind why it workes but the leaves didn't taste as salty. Maybe somebody else will take a stab at responding with discovery science. May not work in your neck of the woods as H2O content differs (pH,cholorine,flouride..etc). My pH was the one thing that had to be corrected and maintained. pH,pH,pH! Did i mention pH? Nobody seems to mention the severe importance of proper pH for soil growers, so here it is.
pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH-pH... Also, i use enough wrt or fert (plant drinks 1/2gal so i use 1gal to be able to check and adjust the pH if necessary. I do that every wetting so i can keep track of pH. Like i said, this isn't for everybodys' situation but in 106deg, 80%RH days it works for me.
She's doing so much better. Thx for the input
