1st time outdoor: plants not ready yet & weather is getting bad
ciao everyone, i'm new to the forum, i'm from rome italy and have been happily growing indoor for 3 years with good results.
this year i decided to go 'into the wild' and planted 12 seeds (6 himalaya gold\6silver haze - from arjan's greenhouse) outdoors. i lost 3 plants early on because of rain & bad weather in late may-june (gave 1 plant to a friend), now i'm left with 8....
they all look pretty healthy and like they need 3-4 more weeks to get to their full potential, september here is usually more of an 'end of summer' type month, still nice and warm - even til mid oct...
instead the temperature dropped these past couple of days and it has been raining hard and will continue for a few more days. my plants suffered this quite a bit: they were all bent over, the biggest one actually cracked.
i put bamboo sticks near each plant and tied them to help them stay up, they really looked like they needed help - but: i read elsewhere that helping plants stay up with sticks might actually weaken them in the long run and that letting the plant 'fight' the wind etc makes it stronger - thoughts\suggestions?
i made a 'cast' with a wet paper tissue around the plant that cracked (read about this elsewhere, seemed like a good idea and seems to be working) - anyone here done this before? did the plant recover?
should i be worried about it being mid sept and my plants still needing 3-4 weeks? will they stay small and stop growing if the weather stays bad and we get an early autumn? - i live in rome, mediterranean climate (in theory!! the weather's all messed up here as everywhere else) similar to california...
the indoor plants i grew (himalaya gold, one of the same 2 seeds i'm growing outdoors now) gave better results!! more bud-filled branches & bigger buds:
i didn't give my outdoor plants any of the products i was using for my indoor ones. just plain water - good\bad?
i planted my plants in a position where they actually don't get full sunlight (they are partially covered by other trees\branches\walls around them) but it's the only spot in the garden where you can't see them from the street. i'm sure these seeds could give much more... thinking of changing spot next year. anyone grow with good results in a similar place? what did you do?
long post, i know........ thanks a lot for any info\tips.ganjaperoni Reviewed by ganjaperoni on . 1st time outdoor: plants not ready yet & weather is getting bad ciao everyone, i'm new to the forum, i'm from rome italy and have been happily growing indoor for 3 years with good results. this year i decided to go 'into the wild' and planted 12 seeds (6 himalaya gold\6silver haze - from arjan's greenhouse) outdoors. i lost 3 plants early on because of rain & bad weather in late may-june (gave 1 plant to a friend), now i'm left with 8.... they all look pretty healthy and like they need 3-4 more weeks to get to their full potential, september here is Rating: 5
