    Window box help

I'm setting up my room today and I have a question about my exhaust. My window measures 46.5"x46.5"x6" and I was told to frame a box to the window to attach my exhaust fan. I was thinking about using cedar since it has anti insect properties but can anyone offer any other advice? i'm somewhat in the dark as to building this box. I guess my question is can someone tell me (1) how do I make the window appear "normal" from the outside in, and (2) what is the best way I should go about framing it? Thankd for the help Keep chokin' :stoned:

    Window box help

put your vent in a piece of plywood, and paint the whole thing black. put the piece of plywood over the window, black side out. leave the blinds (or put some blinds) between the window and the plywood. use tape (duct or aluminum) to seal up any light leaks.

from the inside the room will appear empty. don't forget a carbon scurbber if you are going to exhaust this way. you might be better off pulling in fresh air and exhausting somewhere else.

    Window box help

Okay, let me clarify to make sure this is correct. I should take a piece of ply board that measures 46.5"X46.5", and paint it totally black. Then, I should cut a 6" hole and attach my ducting (by the way I do have a Canfan). Finally I should install blinds and then put the board in place, screwing it in place and it should just look like a window with blinds? A couple more questions...

    1. How do I block the light coming out of my exhaust without making all kinds of bends in the ducting?

    2. Will the blinds move with the air current? How do I fix this?

    3. How much does my window have to be open to allow the air out? a small crack or all the way?

Thanks for the help buds its appreciated.
