the only real stand to be taken is to live your life. preparation is all fine and dandy, but denial of government's hold over the individual by refusing to acknowledge its dominion speaks louder than joining a thousand militias. no bomb is as impressive as a single man that would risk imprisonment rather than bow to tyranny. we have passed the point of violent revolution, we have civilized ourselves into submission, but we still have the capacity to stand before the approaching tide and smile as it rushes over us.

i'm an old man and set in my ways. i have always lived as i pleased, harming no one and aiding those i could, and i will continue to do so, no matter what foolishness the petty bureaucrats of the world try to force on me. that is the only rebellion i have left in me, to be an example of how the individual is supposed to live. the liberty of the individual is my only cause and i see no point in forcing it on those too ignorant to see its worth. we must let the mob do as they please (that is merely an expression of their freedom) and live as if they did not exist. no matter how much i rant and rave, i know i will change nothing but a few minds that were already so inclined.

for quite some time i have believed the end of individualism is well on its way. the herd mentality is just too damn strong to hold it in check for very long. when there was room to be alone we had the luxury of glorying in self. now, as we pack ourselves tighter and tighter together, the mob has determined that one must sacrifice for all and that mediocrity is preferable to the inevitability of failure.
