Medicine doesn't have strong smell at most dispensaries?

I am from the east coast, NYC/NJ, I just moved to LA and am now a medical marijuana patient, which is great. HOWEVER, why does alot of this crazy LOOKING pot in these dispensaries have almost no odor at all. It doesn't reek like crazy dank does that I would get from NYC on the east cost. If anyone know "cartoon" delivery service in NYC, you know what im talking about. What happened to the weed that would REEK even in a closed bag. I see weed that LOOKS crazy but smells like nothing and doesnt get you high. I've bought about 4 1/8ths of pot here in LA that looks like crazy nugs but smelt like nothing, I got talked into buying them by the dispensary workers saying "its still maturing etc etc"... no.. it means the nug it premature, or wasnt grown correctly.. GO BY SMELL, is all I can say..

Smell IS Everything! - I have rarely got herb that smelled dank but didn't get me high. if the dispensary is selling stuff that is "premature" - it weighs more becuase it's still damp - That's a scammer! I don't get that in Orange County - It all smells dank!

Smell isn't everything. There are strains that don't release alot of terpenes. But it is usually a sign that its not very good quality. When buying at a dispensary its always handy to have one of those cheap little pocket microscopes too. Get your moneys worth. If that dispensary doesn't have very good product, go down the street to another one.

I can't agree anymore. I def. was picking up better smelling/quality stuff in Chicago than out here. I'm sure there is bigger and better nuggs out there, but why is it flooded with that hay/manure smell.

    everybody thinks they can grow

jarred nugs dont smell as nuch as bagged cause there is less crushing i transport in jars then switch to bags to enhance odour.

I would like to see some good information on curing weed to preserve the flavonoids (or terpenes or whatever). Everything I grow smells great on the vine but tends to lose most of its flavor once cured.

Some varieties like afghan goo and white widow seem to be holding their flavor after curing but the dj short blueberry and some others lost most of their flavor. The white widow was trimmed right when it was picked but the afghan goo just dried without being trimmed yet both held their flavor.

What are some of the tricks to preserving the flavor of weed in the curing process. My buddy does a partial trim when picking then after several days of drying he cuts the buds and seals them for a few days then dries them the rest of the way and does a final trim. His stuff may be a little more fragrant but not necessarily. Any suggestions.imp:

Maintain that attitude and yer gonna miss out on a lot of might fine weed, my friend.

I also wouldn't get too wrapped up in the green thing. Believe me, a little off green-brown thing can be a mighty fine experience.

For sure, the bliss never smelled good on the plant or after it was dried yet tastes great and is really killer. It looked funky as well with pink flowers that never seemed to mature normally.
