The late ripening sativa strains seem to produce the most. Probably the best for production and strength is sour diesel. If grown to FULL maturity outdoors and dried properly it will also have a very decent flavor. The purple strains will mature sooner but will have a smaller yield. To get the best results buy the best clones you can now keep them vegging through the winter taking as many cuttings as possible then put them out the last week of May. Also a 5' deep by 5' in diameter hole filled with FoxFarms products can yield up to 10 lbs of buds form one plant. I met a fellow who averages 4 lbs per plant and that is purple kush that is not known as a large producer.:stoned:

Northern California is like going into Baskin Robbins and asking what is the best Ice Cream?
Many different varities work better in heat, some do not. Some work good with minimal water, some do not.
There are awaaaaaay tooooooo many variables such as location (general area), elevation, available water (and quality of said water), type of soil, and the most important is the attention that said plants will be getting.
You should tell us the general area before you ask and the group can ususally make some great recommendations.

If they use good soil like Fox Farms products or Roots Organic in a big enough hole and have enough water the results can be pretty predictable. Then you just need to take into account the hours of sun to make your choices.

Nitrogen, so get a soil testing kit and check what you have before you start. Good luck!

Knoweledge is good. I usually add supplements to the soil in addition to the Fox Farms products. I did not know that there is no nitrogen in Ocean Forest. I guess the guano and worm castings should have a good amount of nitrogen and should be a good supplement. I have never tested my soil. I just try to keep using organic products like compost tea and worm juice for fertilizer. I figure if the soil is alive and healthy it should be good enough. Information is always welcome. What do you find when you test the soil. Just the ph. Is there something more like the nitrogen level. Do you ever test for moisture content.

I use a really good moisture meter, it's the finger next to my thumb.... No batteries to wear out, no problem reading the gauge.
I think the electronic meters are crap as I've seen too many people screw them up. Just make sure that if you're growing inside that you have holes in your buckets / containers for drainage. If your outside take a shovel and dig a small hole as almost everyone who's plants were small this past year (outside) were not giving them enough water. You may also want to look at products such as Water-Keep to help eliminate water stress. Maybe you'll have some 10' monsters next year!

So far I have never had a problem with over watering. I think when the choppers fly over they just pause to laugh at my sickly grow. My friend calls it the Auschwitz grow - it gets just enough to survive. To say I have had water issues is an understatement. I hope to resolve this next year by having a spring professionally developed. Then I should have all the water I need and hopefully will need to use that index finger moisture tester. Batteries not included:smokin:
