root rot aireoponics journal
hey this is my first post but i have been on here reading about growing for about a year, i started growing in dirt, but now have decided to give hydro a try. i built a aireoponics unit out of a 18 gallon tote, covered it with reflective tape top to bottom. have 3, 6" net pots with rockwool and clay pebbles, 2 small air pumps and a larger 2 outlet air pump connected to 2 large air stones. also have a carbon water filter connected to my main plumbing lines to fill my tanks with out chlorine water. I plan on connecting 3 of these totes together as soon as i work out the bugs. I am using a hanna ec, tds, ph meter and using vinegar to lower the ph. I added 1 tbs of Thrive alive green label to my 16 or so gallons of water, 300ml of hydrogen peroxide 3%.
specs
18 gal tote
3 air pumps
2 large air stones
1tbs thrive alive green
vinegar to lower ph
hanna ph ppm meter
300ml hydrogen peroxide 3%
my Ph fluctuates alittle between 5.3-6.3 depending on how long i dont monitor it temps between 75-80F. seems that this bacteria growth takes off when i add the thrive alive maybe because its organic? i tryed to eliminate all light leakage into the container, buit think some might have been getting in through the net pots tops so i put aluminum foil over the tops of the pots. also thinking maybe when i check the ph a few times a day the light that gets in then might be what is causing this massive bacteria growth to happen. I could use some expert advice on this problem because its raising hell in my room. as for nutrients go i plan on using GH 3 part along with flora blend and koolbloom, starins are white widow (pic) himilan gold, and super silver haze. I think im going to try some bag seed until i can get this under control i can waste any more seeds.

Aloha, brah
Your slime is caused by the vinegar.
I had the same problem when I started with DWC.
Buy some decent PH down, (Phosphoric acid is good).
And so is chloramine!
I'd be willing to bet that your water supplier uses chloramine instead of Chlorine gas to dis-infect and protect your water.
If so, "letting water sit, won't do shit", and, that's a good thing for plants.
I'd suggest that you lose the carbon filter and let the chloramine do it's job.
(kills anaerobic bacteria, molds, mildew, single-celled nasties, and algae.)
I now run my buckets near 90 degrees F. and never change-out the nutes for the entire run.
3rd grow, NO water problems.
Just :twocents:

Try adding some subculture B, or subculture M. Instead of using the hydrogen peroxide. It will help lower your PH.
