Pollinating LOWRYDER...when&how?
All the contributions regarding pollinating knowledge and know-how will be appreciated a lot.
I am planning to pollinate my lowryder plants, in an attemp to get a harvest of viable seeds.
I have never done this before, so I am not sure what would be the best way to do it. I have some specific questions going through my mind about it:
1. How developped should the female flower be, in order to be able to start producing seeds? I suppose the start of the bud should be there already, when i pollinate...?
2. Since im planning to pollinate just a couple branches, leaving the rest of the plant to produce unpollinated buds, how should I do that? Any suggestions anyone?
I have been thinking of putting pollen into a plastic bag, then putting the plastic bag over a brach. Then I thought I would just shake the branch and the bag to spread the pollen onto the bud and the brach.
Another method I thought of, would be to take a bit of pollen on the tip of my finger (after carefully washing and drying my hands), and then simply touching around the buds...
3. How long should I wait untill I cut the plant after pollination? Of course I want to have the seeds developped enough to be viable, but I would not like to have over riped buds either...
As I said, any contributions on this will be appreciated very much...
Thanks a lot everyoneOldtom Reviewed by Oldtom on . Pollinating LOWRYDER...when&how? All the contributions regarding pollinating knowledge and know-how will be appreciated a lot. Pollinating LOWRYDER...when&how?
take your male plant away from the girls as soon as possible
when his pods open shake onto pices of paper, put pollan in plastic contaner just the pollen nothing eles.do a few times
it is hard to say when to do the pollenating prolly about 4th week the more pistal the more seed i do it a number of times so i get lots of hairs
the seed will take 5-6 weeks to ripen you will have to let the plant go longer than the other non seed plants
the seed pod will crack and you will be able to see a brown seed inside
you can use a small paint brush or Q-tip to apply pollen ..the hair will turn brown in about 36-48 hours when pollanated.alittle goes a long way
