need input on internal ballast lights
I am about to start running a small cab grow (2"X3"X1") and considering 150 w hps light, most of the lights i see are all internal ballast, i am concerned the unit will introduce too much heat to the cab. i have a 120mm 80cfm fan ready to blow cool air on the light, and another 120mm 80cfm fan blowing air into the upper part of the cabinet, where the air is then extracted through a carbon scrubber by 3 X 120mm 80cfm fans. Hope this info helps, any input is greatly appriciated, this is my cab and my first grow so i really exited!!!!!

I 'think' those internal ballasts are solid-state electronics, and don't make much heat ... I 'think' your bulb will be the main heat source, to concern yourself with ... good luck

They do produce a good amount of heat, but you can take the whoel thing apart, leave the ballast in the box it comes with, take the light, add an extention cord so you can move it away from the ballast, because if the ballast gets too hot, it will shut the light off temp., and ya dont want that. Really east, take it apart, look at where the power hooks up and the bulb hooks up and put extention cords there, it will work wonders. Also you can get a CPU heatsink to put on your ballast to keep it even cooler.
