    flowering!! afraid of bud rot.

my plants have been flowering for 20 days now but i saw that they had water on the leaves and buds from the dew. will this cause bud rot? it seems to dry out in the sun. is there anyway to stop bud rot.

If its in your backyard just gently shake the plant to remove the excess water after it rains. Its getting to be that time of the year so you might want to black tarp it to spend up flowering.

I would be more worried about it towards the end of flowering. If you have a spot away from home and you know its going to rain in the next few days you could cover the biggest colas with a clear bag... garbage, grocery, big sandwich bags.

Then after the rain take it off... This is advice ive been given but haven't had to use because of late flowering strains...

Now is definitely the time to start watching for mold and rot. Outdoors it is almost expected to have at least a little it's really to what degree. Shaking off excess water is a good idea, along with keeping a careful eye on the buds. Any bud rotting you see should be removed carefully to avoid spreading the spores. I wouldn't use bags, especially plastic, it will trap moisture and without airflow will be a breeding ground for mold and rot. You'd rather clip one affected bud than lose 5 or worse because it spread. Also, don't touch the affected bud then touch other parts of the plant. And for small spots on leaves and stems you can use a 50/50 alcohol/water solution or just remove the affected leaf. With plenty of sun, though, the problem should be minimal. Good luck, peace.
My posts are completely hypothetical fiction. The photographs I post were found on the internet. I only post on these forums as a kind of fantasy gardening.

Bud rot happens when too much moisture and heat are concentrated on the bud. Mold loves dampness and heat. Could be from too much rain or overwatering.

I've heard that water curing will remove the mold and allow you to smoke the affected bud.

use Serenade- to stop or prevent bud rot- I had rot this season , lost a couple of pounds if dry- use Serenade in advance of signs of rot- set up a barrier before it starts- I used Serenade 2 days before harvest with no flavor change-
