College!!!
Okay everyone, I moved into my dorm yesterday. I haven't been on for the past week because it has been freaking me out so bad. We start school monday, and we have been going through "welcome week". Which is essentially ten straight hours of information and walking every day till we start school. I got all of my issues worked out, such as books and when I am getting my cash back and all that.
The freedom is ungodly. Our student I.D's also function as our on campus debit cards. They give us 80 bucks a week to eat at the the coffee houses and restaurants on campus, instead of the cafeteria. The cafeteria is ungodly good either way, so I am spending my money at the coffee houses for a free coffee on every morning. I'm in one of the smaller dorms. Next year they are bull dozing the dorms I am in, and building even newer apartments than what they already have. It is a self-contained little city on campus, gas stations, police office, banks, grocery store, everything.
I love it thus far. I got my books, cost me 700 bucks to get them. I have five Socratic dialogues for my philosophy class, on top of the rest of the class curriculum.
I just figured I'd update y'all on the reason I haven't been on in a while. They keep us so busy, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post, but forums are a great way to expand your thinking ability, I believe anyway. Exposing yourself to so many different views and opinions.
Some of my goals:
gym, three days a week.
Vegetarian diet one week a month.
A's in all my classes.
Join an academic fraternity, based on my major.
Join the student government association.
I'll be here and there now and again, don't think you can forget this beautiful avatar!wayoftheleaf Reviewed by wayoftheleaf on . College!!! Okay everyone, I moved into my dorm yesterday. I have been hanging out with this fraternity since I got here. Really nice, enjoyable people. They kind of take the middle ground between party and academics, which is what I have been looking for. There is one that is literally having a party, and therefore getting raided, every single night. THAT frat has shopping carts in the front yard to throw your beer cans in. Ever seen Animal House? But I am definitely going to rush and pledge to the one I am currently talking to.
I went to one of their parties today. Lots of good people, they played beer pong but I was just hanging around smoking cigs. Two freshman have already gotten underage charges before classes even start. All stories I've heard tell me how they always crack down hard as hell before classes start as a scare tactic, and then only the pike house gets raided after classes begin.(the pike house being the frat with the shopping carts lol)
If you remember me from way back when, and god forbid, the picture I discovered I had put on my profile here years ago before removing it upon my return, then you know how insane it is for me to be affiliated with a frat, much less joining one.
I am settled in well. I have a microwave, george foreman grill, fridge, towels, dish towels, washing towels, and ungodly amounts of food that my family bought me and has promised to continue buying me. I can't believe I have room for it all, an eight by ten cell doesn't have much on this dorm lol. But I love it. My books(my collection, not just required) and a coffee maker. The coffee maker has become my best friend already.
I can't describe how accepting and just plain caring all the students are here. I walk down the hall, and people that I have never met pull me off to the side to speak to me, just because they want me to experience the collegiate world as they have. It's beautiful.

I'm really excited to go to college, but I don't go until January, so I'm kind of pissed that everyone will be settled in and I'll be the new kid.
How is your roommate? The only thing I'm concerned is that I'll really hate my roommate and she'll steal my clothes.

I just started school too! Although your college sounds way nicer than mine. I'm not sure if I like it here yet so I've been applying around to different places in the Minnesota area. My roommates from Korea, really quiet and studies A LOT. Shes like "I'm from Korea that what we do, study." Haha, silly girl. I like your list, I actually made one really similar to yours! List of five things, 1. Get all A's 2. Work out once everyday 3. Join a club 4. Meet a good friend 5. Get drunk and meet more friends Haha. My books were really expensive too, I paid for them and then found out there is a book program here where you can check them out for 2 hours at a time in the library. Could of just took notes for two hours then return the book but OH WELL.
