Sativas are recommended for depression, also it is high THC that most like for depression, the og and purple are usually indica dominant strains which are more for pain, but some might use for depression as well. Sativas are know to motivate better because they increase heart rate, which usually increases ones motivation or feelings. I am not to sure on depression but I know allot of people that medicate for depression and they like Sativas. And all like Super Silver Haze, I have talked to 3 different people that said they love it and will be growing it, just for depression.
