Or you could borrow or spend about 25 bucks at a local shop and buy already made and safe fluorescent lights or keep playing with parts....:hippy:

Buy 4 foot bulbs. They're cheap and the best thing for your 4 foot ballast. I've never heard of using 2 foot bulbs in a 4 foot ballast before. Besides, who would want less light filling the same space? Nobody that I know of...at least nobody who wants a good crop.

actually i want the 2ft fl for 2 reasons.
1- area limitations and 2- i want LESS light because its gonna be for low maintenance mothers and for clones.
and not to mention benefiting from the free parts.

i've also heard that i could power 4X2ft fl with 2X4ft ballasts and ONE capacitor.
that would be great to know about too

Okay, my mistake. Good luck. Sorry for being judgemental, to each their own :rastasmoke:

Maybe try CFL's if space restrictions are your main problem. They take up very little space, turn them on their side for good light emission and if somebody sees light coming from a CFL it's generally less suspicious than a 4 foot workshop light.

Otherwise maybe just get a 2 foot ballast, which would also be more covert than 2 foot bulbs in a 4 footer. Of course I definitely understand not wanting to buy extra stuff too, growing on a tight budget is the only way I've ever grown.

You can look for a free 2 foot ballast if you want one on craigslist.com or request one on freecycle.org. People get rid of those cheap shop lights all the time, they're a pretty temporary lighting setup for most people. They work great for growers though, I've had a lot of success with the 4 footers.

    Good luck.
