Scrog Newb With Questions
hey there mate..... im a scrogger.
stems are best left un-crushed and un broken(not severed) as you would when supper cropping. the best time to re-weave tops is when they are between 3-4 inches above the screen.
the reason for this is that the plants top 3-4 inches seem to be the softest. also waiting untill you have 3-4inches to play with means that when re-weaved the growing tip will be 1-2inches above the screen in its new position. this allows for faster vertical standing of the growing tip and so faster overall growth..
BUT......
sometimes if i get a more stretchier arm ill pinch it before i but it back under the screen. this has the effect of slowing that particular branch down and allows the other to catch up.
if you think about it you can use the damage caused by pinching and 90deg bending of your stems to your advantage to slow down new growth and allow other branches to catch up... from this youll understand how much 90deg bending and pinching CAN slow down growth.
mixing supper cropping and scrogg together... work realy well for me.
ill super crop for 2weeks from a preflowered 6inch clone.(preflower the mom for 2-3weeks for a supper bush effect)
start of week 3 ill add the screen. take a week to fill the screen. one top per hole kinda thing. because of the preflowering and the supper cropping the plants are say 12inches high, 16 inches wide. by end of week 3. lovly little bushes.
one more week for me as i had to clear a nute problem. then flower.
iv added a few pics from end of 21DAYS . on the underbranch shot you can see where i have supper cropped/piched the branches to aid in the spread of the branches and so aid the spread of the canopy.
i found that its faster to bend the main branch at 90 deg. all branches that grow from this main stem reach the screen very fast. As they travel straight up.
if i dont supper crop all branches must come up at angles to the screen and so must travel thurther. in the under branch shot you can see the closest plant is supper cropped. the plant to its left has not be cropped that well and has taken longer to fill the screen...
hope this helps...
