    Co2 tank guage?

I just started buying co2 and was wondering how to gauge how much co2 is actually in the bottle. I bought 2 bottles and one was lighter. Does that mean there is less gas? Is there a specific weight or psi I should look out for on full tank? Just dint want to be ripped off.

You should have a flow meter guage to put on the bottle before you use it that will tell you how many lbs pressure on in the bottle. If you don't have one you get them on ebay or any welding supply store will have them

    1. Weight when your dealing with CO2 Gas bottles doesnt matter because CO2 gas has no weight the actual varience could be due to the type of material used to make the bottle like aluminum or iron, this is also assuming the size of the bottles are the same if they are different sized well i would assume you wouldnt be asking.

    2. a good pressure regulator will have 2 guages 1 showing overall bottle pressure, and the other showing the pressure of the ouput flow. the regulator will also have an adjustable valve for the flow output.

    3. assuming the bottles are the same size then when you got them. record the initial pressure off the regulator on each bottle. and make a log for each new bottle the pressure varience sould be no more than 200psi give or take from your average. if you find a larger difference then you might contact your gass supplier and inquire of their procedures when bottleing the gass
like how pressurized are the bottles they must have a standard they go by.

    4. well if ya did get ripped off live and learn but overall share your experiece in your new endevor.

it is a gas,its a v.o.c an organic compound when compresses into a tank the chemical structure slightly changes to a liquid but will always remain a gas it's just a chemical reaction. so to the point, most people run bigger tanks like 20's or the 80 pounders, every place i have had fills from uses scales and gauges from there fill center, they check the gauge as its on a weigh scale during filling, from personal experience a full 20 pound tank weighs in around 35-40 pounds full, but honeslty it only costs about 12 bucks to fill a 20 pounder, the bitch part about using co2 bottles is trying to be incognito about the several tanks your bringing in and out of your house all the time"well thats my paranoia"

That is why it is wise to use 2 or more suppliers. Get one refilled at a welding supply house and the second at a beverage operation.

And if you are an old guy like me, look into buying your own tanks...and get aluminum ones.
